Attention Server Admins - MapVote Mutator

  • Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. It is highly recommended that you configure this to keep your account safe.

That's correct. Because of an irritating bug in 0.4.2 it's got a dependency tie to RaptorRace. If you download and put the RaptorRace packages in your server (no need to add to ServerPackages or whatever, adding MapVote_0_42 does by linkage) then it will load and run correctly, but people will be forced to download eq2.u, BSE_RRMeshes.usx, BSE_RRPickups.usx and RaptorRaceFX.u when they connect (unless of course they have RR already installed).

Feel free to set your HTTPDownload redirect location to my redirect location at http://redirect.aybab2u.com/ which will make these packages download much faster for people connecting to your server (unless of course you already have your own redirect set up.

I'm trying to get the next version done as soon as possible though, and I'm trying to avoid making similar mistakes again. I'm also trying to give admins a little more power by adding admin-configurable voting limits and a webadmin page to configure the various features.

I have been testing the new build today and I have definately removed the dependency, so if you choose to wait till the next version your problem will be resolved.

Some mirrors for RaptorRace are:

In the new version players are limited (by default; but admins can change the values using the webadmin or .ini) to voting for the same map twice, and a total of 5 votes per game. Do you think there should be a settable delay between votes as well, it wouldn't be particularly difficult to implement.

Do something like "You can not vote for 90 seconds" or a preset time. So some dick wad that just joins a server cant pull up the vote menu. Or when the map switches, there should be a time limit before MV is available to use. This way, people can't just go through maps every 2 mins just to be noobs.

Hmm, there's nothing wrong with starting a mapvote just after a map starts. What if it's something crap nobody wants to play? Best just to change it straight away. Though I agree with the just-joined idea.

Heres what I think:

Like Jackal said, you should have to wait 90(ish) seconds after you join before you can initiate a map vote.
Also, like you said EQ, you should only be able to vote for the same map twice in one game and you should only be able to vote 5-10 times in one game.
Also, there should be a delay between votes of about 30 seconds, like Jetronic said (this 30 second delay should begin after the vote is finished not when you initiate the vote and should only apply to the person who started the vote).
Also, there should be about a 10 second delay between different people voting (as in if Whitey votes for Alcazar and it gets turned down Customz can't immediately vote for Sirocco, he has to wait 10 seconds).
Also, there should be a max of five votes for one map allowed in the game by anyone (so Outlaw can't vote for Boxworld twice then have Overboost vote for it twice, then have Shadow vote for it twice etc.).

Also, if you some how get bored with this I would suggest that you tie in some other mutators (such as kickidlers and blocks) that can be inabled only by server admins just to make it more fun.
