I can't be there yet. I don't know if TAZ told you all about my sad tale. My CPU start freezeing up so I rebooted, and then I had to reboot again. After 10 reboots Windows was corrupted and would not start up. I searched through all the discs provided to me by Cyberpowerpc and discovered that I never had a startup disk. My other comp an old 133 mhz computer, had a bad modem that wouldn't work, so I could not get a start up disk off the net. Keep in mind, I didnt want to reformat the WD40GB drive, becase I didn't want to loose all of my data, pictures, diablo characters, documents , UT2003 files... you name it.
Nothing I did would recover the data from the old drive and the WD40GB drive would not work in the old comp, so I couldn't even get the data off it. (note: not good whenever you hear a rythmic humm comming from a hard drive).Luckly, I had been in touch with TAZ through out my ordeal.
TAZ was a GOD send. He provided me with the software I needed to reinstall the OS, but the WD40GB hard drive would not restart. So I had to go and buy a new hard drive. And I had to load ME from scratch (Like a virgin, kissed for the very first time). I managed to do something right and loaded the OS on to the new WD120GB drive. Since that time I have had to run windows update - like forever. I still need to update alot of the divers for hardware and software. The modem I have for dialup in my comp did not load right and I have no idea who made it (no markings beyond the serial numbers). At least the network card loaded ok, so I am able to get on the net to get all the updates.
Once I can partition the new hard drive, I will then load up all my games and then I will start to back up everything. In case you couldn't tell I had never backed up anything. Never thought it could happen to me. So my new mantra is backup backup backup. See all soon when its all fixed.
PS. Norton Antivirus just told me I had a bad file. I followed the prompts and quarentined the file. Funny thing is now NAV will not work. I think it quarentined itself (silly Symantec). I quess I will have to reload that software as well. Argggggggggggggggggggggg. Will it ever end. Why me........WHHHYYY. I think I know how Nancy kerrigan felt.
