-- Intel designed its compilers, which translate software
programs into machine-readable language, to degrade a
program's performance if operated on a computer powered by
an AMD microprocessor.
And AMD is STILL faster in many cases.

AMD supporter here. Apart from the allure of the brand, most PC shops would sell AMD-based machines for a question of price. AMD64 chips are more expensive than their Intel counterparts on the high end but a cheapo 270 euro tower doesn't have a trace of Intel inside.

It's about f*en time AMD did something! Finally, somebody at AMD is awake at the wheel rather than falling asleep and gliding along.

I recently tried to purchase a decent high-end AMD laptop and found none except an Acer Ferrari with that evil curved keyboard. Yet there were 30+ Intel models available with every single graphics chip ever made. Trying to buy computers now from any mainstream dealer results in the same finding of an overwhelming number of Intel systems and maybe a couple of AMD's, if you're lucky. Intel is monopolizing the market and someone needs to put a leash on them so we can get some decent competition.

Hell, I can't even get around this sh*tty Intel 2915 wireless card because I'm forced to only use Centrino and all the alternatives won't work, IF they're even available for purchase (which they're not anymore it seems).

Intel had this coming. It's about time AMD stepped up to the plate. I hope they win since it will help in the long run to improve competition and the rate at which technology advances and the quality of those advances.

And WTF happened to Turion 64? Intel squashed that. If Intel didn't have it's monopoly I'd be sitting behind a nice black and silver Sager with a Clawhammer FX-55 and 6800 Ultra; not this cheapo Dell with a Pentium-M.

Intel vs. AMD should equal Nvidia vs. ATi

Well, letting Intel continue to break the law definitely won't help competition.
Here are some of the things Intel is accused of doing:

-- AMD has been entirely shut out from Media Markt, Europe's
largest computer retailer, which accounts for 35 percent
of Germany's retail sales.

Hmm, I'm about to send of a CV to the Belgian branch of Mediamarkt. It's a shame they don't sell AMD and I'll have to concentrate on explaining other components besides the CPU.
