AFA server woes

I well there might be a problem or thre might not. Yes I have experience some issue with high numbers of players... but never has intense as some description I read here. A good exemple is the "gangsta P90 issue". I was on the server at that exact time and did not have any problems. So if these descriptions are not exagerated, I can only conclude that I'm less affected by this then some of you are and a this might be in good part due to the fact that my average ping is lower. Remember that some issue can be experience very differently from user to user due to various variables. Distance beeing one of these.

My ping to both AFA servers is around the 150 mark spiking to 400-450 and that's playing across the pond. If I connect to INF or one of the other Euro servers my ping can get as log as 70-80 rarely seen it less but I've often seen it at 150-250.

The Infernalnet and on-line gaming connections are a thing of wonder (ie I wonder how they ever work). Vega-Don what are your connections like to other servers etc. Have you tried a trace route to the offending AFA server. It wouldn't be the first time I've seen a period of time when to connect 10 miles up the road you get routed via Siberia and Timbuktu.

Just some thoughts.

I just hoped on AFA EAS, AFA SPC, and GD and took some screen shots.
Border town is from AFA SPC.
Chem Threat is from AFA EAS
Avignon is from GD.

My F3 button did not work on either of the AFA servers, but it did work for GD,
thus ruling out speachpad. I may have to just reinstall INF as a last resort, but I
find it incredably odd that I am, aparently, the only one experiencing this F3 bug
and that it only occers on the AFA server. Computers:sometimes their harder to
figure out than women!

Ok... here's some new test. Played a few games on AFA (not AFA3) tonight. Both on Mostar we had up to 10 players and my ping stayed below 50. In fact, it stayed on an average of 40. The only time it got a little higher (around 80) was at the beginning of the game when everyone rejoinded at the same time. This is totally comprehensible.

On thing I saw was that lag spikes, when ppl enter the server, where totally gone. This might be due to the ngstats config upgrade.

Futhermore, the higest ping i saw was a 300 average. 56k player so this is pretty normal too.

stat net showed no sign of packed loss at all.

No replication errors reported tonight. no server instabilities. Maybe a good server restart from time to time could be good. I see that AFA crashes from time to time.

Furthermore, speech pad and the UTcompass doesn't seem to be up to date.

Anyone else had a chance to test both AFA servers?

Please report your findings here. Interested in ping times, animation anamolies, player load etc.

Thanks.

OK here's the deal... last night on AFA (not AFA3), ppl start to say it lagged a lot. On my side, it was still accepteble, eventhoug my ping went up. Map was Border Town. My ping did go up a little (about 150) which is about 100 over my AFA average so it's anormal.

at that time, there where about 12 ppl on the server and symptomes reported by most of them was delay between the time they fire the weapon and the time it actually fired. ppl also reported non-continuous fire of automatic rifles because of delay between shots. sadly I didn't thought at that time to net stat the connection... i'll do it if it happens again.

The following game on frozen had no problems from what I saw so it looks like a map/actor issue.

Belfast and Bordertown have tremendous lag problems due to the high number of movers in both. While I like playing them, no one likes playing ANY map with high lag.

I recommend actually removing both maps from rotation (especially belfast).

Actually, I'm against removing Belfast for now. Once more quality community maps are made, then we can start replacing the others. As for BT, as far as I'm concerned, it's never leaving the rotation. It's only laggy when there are a lot of people on the server. You can have great matches with 4v4 (and more) and still be fine.

Belfast was removed from AFA3. BorderTown will stay.
I'd like to keep AFA3's maplist short and specialist friendly.
In other words, maps that lend to specialist games. I removed Cuban Dawn because the specialist isn't needed on that map. Now if someone comes out with a version of Cuban Dawn where the specialist is needed (hint hint), then it'll go back in the rotation.

and its strange that only AFA members (but geogob) says that they don't have lag issues, you people doesnt seem objective. "happens on every server.."
