There should be a SOB & AFA Spec server running full time. GD is running the mutator to allow EAS & Spec to run "at the same time" so you'll get a few rounds of Spec mixed in with EAS on that server.

iam the only one who doenst like specialist to much.

i played a bit on Gd with bastille, and i didnt tought that map in a specialist perspective , but it makes sense that the bomb has to be disarmed by a specialist .. it is not funny when you defend and the specialist's team is owned to much

ill learn to like it i guess

My only problem with Specialist is the whole "round restart" the happens if the specialist leaves the game. I understand the rational behind it, but I find that it's a somewhat unsatisfactory solution. Especially if it happens later in the round.

Anyone got thoughts on an alternative solution to the problem?

In addition to what Crowze said...

I do NOT get why it happens so often that the Specialist leaves the match... sometimes even without giving a reason or even 'saying' the short word 'bye'. It really annoys me. Why do they play Specialist if they do not want to play the Specialist themselves or get frustrated so easily that they do not get the goals accomplished and so they quit the game? What is so hard that they cannot continue to try to accomplish the mission objectives and give it another 5 to 10 minutes of play?

@Bhruic, there is no good alternative that works. Only alternative is to simply stay in the game instead of quitting. I really don't get why people quit without a reason most times.

Well I guess on GD a person may not know he is playing Specialist, since I am mixing the game types.

However, it would be cool if you where chosen to be Specialist, you could give it up at the very first part of the round. Like, You are The Specialist this round, do you want to give it up? Y/N You have X seconds to answer....

and respawn with no lives left and a pistol?
Well you should have been protecting the spec better if he has no lives left. Also, could have it tell you that you have been selected as the next spec and that you will die and respawn as the spec with the next wave. That way, you would have some warning.

I think this is a good solution. If people are pissed about being chosen as spec, then they should go play EAS ffs.

Well, I could write a few thousand word essay on ways that people do "stupid" things in online games, but I'm pretty sure I'd be preaching to the choir. :)

But barring purposefully quitting to cause a restart, there are lots of other reasons someone could leave the game. Connection issues, real life stuff, etc. It's unfortunate that no one has come up with a viable alternative. Although it's still possible someone might think of something good that neither you or I thought of (I'm experimenting with optimism or something ;)).

I don't understand why people don't like being the specialist. I beleive its the best part of INF at the moment.

The few time I have been choosen has been a blast. Yes I am very busy with the binds communicating with my team members as they clear a path. And yes I sometime have to sit behind a wall waiting for a bit until the bad guys are cleared out or reinforcements arrive.

For stupid people the first rule is: Intellegence is an option. Not everyone checked the little box.

As for a solution I have no idea.

Personally I loathe spec.

Getting stuck with a pistol and having to rely on your "team" mates is teh crap.

People leave when they're spec because they don't like being stuck with a pistol and having to rely on their "team" mates... obviously

Spec would be a little more tolerable if there was a "volunteer" toggle you could use to volunteer to be the spec.

My best ever game in INF 2.9 so far was when i played as the specialist
No other EAS rounds compete with the intensity feeling and adrenalin rush i had while playing the specialist role.

You have to be a lot more carefull to what you do , as you are the only one with the capacity to extract the info from the laptop , you are exhausted quickly, and with your handgun you will have to be sure to kill if you decide to engage an enemy.
And the fact that teamplay shine a lot more than in EAS when you have to play with your team to stay alive is very immersive.

The only problem actually i saw is when there are people that play specialist gametype exactly the same as in EAS or TDM : rushing without caring of what happen to the specialist and saying "move , gogogo" etc , leaving the specialist under fire .

Too bad i have a very high ping with the servers that include Specialist all the time.
I just hope that more servers will be interested on Specialist or will use the gameswitcher mutator to include EAS and Specialist map in the same rotation.
Specialist in my opinion is the greatest way to play INF 2.9.

I love the specialist game mode. Have had some fantasic games as specialist or as protecting a specialist.
I find it very refreshing to guide someone "new" as specialist, step by step moving closer to the objective trying to keep him safe. Very fun and a lot of team work involved.
