3DFX website to be closed (again) but some good news for loyalists.....

its not old news....but its going away for good. So if you have one of those cards...and you want some drivers....you better grab and save them while they are still up. It will become increasingly hard to find them after this.
www.3dfx.com

The good news is that if you think you where screwed when you bought your card.....check this out:
http://www.nvidia.com/view.asp?IO=IO_20011126_4364

Trade your card in for a gf2mx.
Cash in....or just keep your card. its up to you.

Good Riddance!

I hated 3dfx right from the start. Why? Because I didn't have one, and I had games like INcubation that only supported 3dfx
Damn those bastards.

A simple analogy for simple folks

UT + 3dfx = putting racing tires on a tractor

UT + Nvidia = driving a Ferrari with the handbrake on

your acting newbish. maybe i was wrong, maybe very few graphics cards run faster than 350mHz, but your's doesn't. i've checked many gf2, and gf3 boxes. My 16mb card runs smother than your 64mb card. and why is that?, because 3dfx was the standard before they were bought out. You either had a 3dfx card or you didn't. In your case, you didn't. And you missed out on some superbly exceptional graphics.

Maybe you haven't seen anti-aliasing on my other voodoo, the voodoo 5 5500. Maybe you haven't seen the other z-buffer effects in action. They only went away because they had very poor marketing action. They spent too much time and research into making the impossible happen. They did make it happen, but in the end makes the card a little expensive. Which i would pay twice for, because it's worth it.

if 3dfx is to F - 22 (most manueverable fighter in the world),
than nVidia is to the first wright bro. plane.

and not for the first time & certainly not for the last

not getting out much these days?

I brought a Orchid 3d the day it came out. I brought 2 V2's as soon as they were affordable. I passed up on the cards they produced after that as I like nice shiny new toys to play with.

I have a bridge in Brooklyn that you might be interested in, give me a call & we'll do lunch.
