Makes sense to use it for weapons. Having two ways to represent health is redundant and it wouldn't allow you to show health over 100. And actually, that's pretty much how UT HUD is - the weapons are squares at the bottom. So that's where they got the idea from...

Also, LOL at image titles :D

So the Dragon is there. Any way to port its model and textures to retail Unreal?

Textures yes, model...unsure for now. I know someone who might be able to help rip it out since mine and Leo's attempts have failed :(


I think Daewon already made the dragon for the Forgotten Classics Bonus Pack. I'm pretty sure it has animations, but no code.

Yeah, I've got oldpawn too. I did try coding it a while back but lost patience and had to finish my college work and just...forgot about it after :(


the one who recreates this dragon (red one at best) shall get a "unreal-oscar"award.we've been waiting so long.

With Daewon's permission, I'll see if I can remap his dragon model to fit the dragon texture from the 97 tech demo.


Btw as for the status bar, the small blocks which were supposed to shine red, are not health counters but weapons, it showed on old screenshots where it showed stinger, that it was weapons up to 3 and with quadshot it was with 4.

Not sure about the red blocks representing weapons, but it seems to make sense. If you look here:

You can see the Automag is equipped and there are 4 blocks highlighted. The number to the right seems to be armour count, the middle one health and the right one ammo. Maybe the player had just selected the Automag and the blocks hadn't updated yet?

No, it shows the numbers of weapons you possess. I've seen old collection of these screenshots and there is one screen that was taken right before this one and it shows quadshot selected with the four slots being red. So yeah.

Btw I hate that screenshot in particular that was shown. It shows the crappy hand being taken forward, looking it most crappy of all the black automag pics that were shown and that geometry in that one is rather crap too, compared to other screenshots. I mean it just doesn't look that aligned.
But then again most of the pics published by nextgen magazine were rather crap too.

Another edit of Fred, this time showing the animations, I have set the static pawns to animate on 'all' and set their animation speed too. You can check ingame how it animates. Dragon and Woman are buggy at the stop animation, the polygons get kind of exploded for a nanosecond.
