* Clarification: T2a did not start this thread/conv. It begun in the "official photography" thread. This conversation was slowly derailing the purpose of said thread, and imho had to start a life of its own. So I've simply extracted it, so the photography could stay on topic, and made up a silly title I suppose...- NeoNite

I've always wondered why girls go for the assholes and then act surprised when they get treated like crap. It's like buying a sh*tty used car and then being surprised when the transmission fails right before an important trip. Why put faith into something so flimsy? It's unlogical.

There's a recipe for disaster if I've ever seen one. If her self-esteem and self-worth is all superficial -- no deeper than her skin and her boyfriend -- she's got problems. What happens when her boyfriend breaks up with her? A mental meltdown? Probably. Have fun dealing with that fallout.

On the other hand, if she finds a really nice guy SHE will treat him like crap. I have heard and seen it a thousand times - something like, "I couldn't be with him, he's too nice, I would treat him like crap!"

girls do this because the "nice guy" isn't much of an improvement over the asshole, but at least the asshole knows how to have fun.

the nice guy sounds good in theory, but in reality he's typically inexperienced or naive, and allows women to walk all over him for the ability to maintain any relationship he can get his (often) desperate hands on.
women would rather have a man who exhibits a clear independence (read: confidence) and knows how to have a good time. this takes priority over how nice he treats her, so long as he gives her snatch a good tongue lashing. and as history goes, the asshole usually knows the most about partying and licking pussy, thus, he wins.

I should add, this rule changes as men and women age.
when I was younger, I'd call my self an asshole. now that I'm older, I call myself a "nice asshole." having a balance between the two works out best, imo.
as women age, they have less tolerance for the asshole and more tolerance for the nice guy, but they still want their nice guy to know how to be an asshole when it's appropriate.

my view is correct.
at least when it comes to American girls from the mid-West and East coast.

I just realized that post is confusing; but I'm basically substituting "asshole" for "manliness" by the end of it.
women want a guy who treats them nice but also knows how to act like a guy is supposed to when the occasion calls for it, if that makes sense.

I'm just calling it like I see it.
there's not a whole lot of exceptions to my rule, at least not between young men and women. like I said, it changes as people get older and I imagine it changes from culture to culture.

but in this country, in this century, the asshole usually wins.

No, don't get me wrong. I must sadly agree. I had this discussion over and over again with a friend of mine. We came to the conclusion that as we grew older and showed more respect for girls you automatically became less interesting compared to the time when you didn't give two ****s about what they think of you.
But then again we realized that even if you act all manly (is that even a word?) you usually attract the wrong kind of girls anyways. The decent ones can't be fooled.

Ok, back on topic....Sorry Photography guys...

I definitely agree with you there, and that's kinda the point I was getting to.
you need to just be yourself, and the good ones will come to you, because the good girls can't be fooled you're right.
at the end of the day, if you're a nice person with good self esteem you don't have to act like an asshole or a nice guy to get a great girl.

the "rule" about assholes and nice guys is just a general critique on young people today, it's not absolute. it's true maybe 60% of the time, if that. although pop culture would make you believe it's a lot more prevalent.

Ok, I have to add this story real quick, because I was laughing tears thinking about it.
There was this time back in ’96 when two of my best friends visited me for a weekend just to hang out, drink beer and listening to music. Then, one evening three girls which I knew, who were not top models but in good shape and really cute, came by and wanted to do something that evening.
You know what one of my friends did? He pointed to the Playboy magazine that was lying on my table and said: “Come back when you look like this!”
Buuuahahahahaha…..how mean.
They just looked at each other and left. And guess what? They didn’t stop following us for the next 6 month.

Its totally off topic. Please see the very first post of this thread. Then make a new thread please.

There are plenty of unappealing women out there with more issues than Playboy. Just because they are physically attractive changes nothing. Date better women.. the ones with lots of issues aren't worth it.

Post photos and comment on them. It will make you feel better.

"Nice" and "asshole" are just English words they are very inadequate.
There is more than two personality traits anyway Jacks, it's not like people are just either nice or an asshole or somewhere in between. Maybe you've never played The Sims or you would know this.

Nice people are assholes in my opinion always talking to people and being friendly like they're best friends or something, it's stupid. It's like they can't think for themselves they have to be nice that's it.

Talking about inter-personnel relationship idir humans is pointless anyway, no one takes into account the people who aren't stupefied by society.

Of course those aren't nice people. Those are slimeballs. People who are nice are sometimes/can be overly nice and with that comes only one objective in mind. "It's all about me".

I've several of those at work. One in particular is very annoying. She always has to greet you, no matter which time of the day. And everytime it feels unnatural/faked.
