Cool, just thought for a second you were promoting socialism "protects" its citizens better...

Yea, Obama has lost popularity here in the States. We are very ADD and his rhetoric has not delivered. Why would it? We have the same eco-political structure as before, small business will adapt or die, people have taken lower paying jobs with no benefits because, ffs they need to eat. So wow, until it gets so bad ppl get violent, it won't change, just continue to deteriorate in small increments.

I lived South West of London for a few years in my younger days, taxes then, and health care, were appaling compared to what I enjoyed in the U.S., am a little scared that is our future. Though if it came with good lager I might not complain :)

History proves over and over again that wealth is best left in the hands of the private sector. When government forces you to hand it over, it mostly goes to waste and solves nothing. We still have poor, we still have retired seniors with not enough to live on. Socialism is evil. We can see this with a look back through history but as a nation, we are short-sighted, intellectually lazy and forgetful. So, socialism will prosper as long as we continue to elect slick talking politicians who can say one thing now and it will be forgotten in 2 weeks.

We still have the 2nd Amendment, we still have oppressed citizens with not enough ammo. Gun Control is evil. So, gun control will prosper as long as we continue to elect slick talking politicians who take away our rights and change the law every 2 weeks.

Less rules = More freedom.
Less laws = More freedom.

Just like working for a large corporation that keeps on giving your more and more responsibilities but continues to pay you the same... you are eventually overworked and have very little power to do any good.

Given the age of the US I can see that eventually there will be a law for everything and every situation. Gotta look like your accomplishing something right?

Well, it looks like the Iraq war is drawing to a close. I still remember 9/11, getting up, probably having gotten FSL the night before, and then getting on NC and reading Rukee's post about a plane flying into the WTC. I must have thought something like, "Huh, that's novel." Then I walked to class and someone who was driving, and who had her windows down, told me there was no class that day because of the stuff going on in NYC, so I walked back home. During that period I was playing a lot of Soldier of Fortune 2 multiplayer test, so I did some of that and got ****ing stonned, Larrys. I also chatted with OO7Mike, and it was hilarious. There was lots of MIRC LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL's and LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO's. And ****, man, that was almost 9 years ago. Well anyway, Iraq war, you were a good thing. Thank you.

Redundant laws is what we have. Laws for everything on top of other laws that pretty much say the same thing. For example: We just passed a law here banning talking on cell phones without a hands free device. However, we already have laws against being distracted while driving. I don't recall any specific laws against applying make-up, reading a novel, eating a greasy cheeseburger, attending a crying baby, etc while driving. All of which I have personally witnessed people doing.

its an expencive mess to pay for. it has fallen on Obama's watch. not his fault though.

It was blamed as Bush's fault (not Clinton's) when the DotCom bubble broke, even though he hadn't taken Oath of Office when it happened.

But now that we're more than a year into Obama's administration, the poor economy is somehow still Bush's fault?

Sounds like a double standard to me.

There still aren't any laws against stupidity. Although that may be a little to broad for most people, I think we need specifics even if we end up with redundancy.
