Some of those girls look disturbingly young.
Some of those costumes are hot. Its just to bad that the people who will actually wear those things are going to be fat and ugly.
Pro tip for cosplayers that are fat and ugly; Wear a costume that resembles your looks and general lack of caring for your appearance. So if you weigh 300 pounds, dress up as an ogre from World of Warcraft or something, not a night elf.
I don't really care for cosplay. The idea of getting a real girl dressed up like a cartoon character so I can pretend that the real girl is actually the cartoon character is real and that I could have sex with it if I wasn't a disgusting fatard with bad hygiene is too far removed from my reality I guess. I would rather the girl just dress well and look hot. These are things you get over when you have banged a real girl.

You've missed the point entirely. You are essentially saying that it is a turn off if someone quotes from from something that you have read and enjoyed, because why don't they just say intelligent things that aren't gleaned from what they've read?
I hope you're following that train of thought. Let me say it more differently. By dressing as a character from a show they are identifying with that character and projecting to the other person a certain set of personality traits inherent to that character (just as someone that wears certain types of clothes are projecting an affiliation with certain types of attitudes. It's not a desire to have sex/talk to/be with the actual anime character, it's the desire to have sex/talk to/be with a person who has the traits of that character that are intriguing to them. It isn't relegated to cartoons, as it extends to movies (mmm, now I'm remembering the princess leia thread...), videogames, etc. Part of the appeal of cartoons/games is the aburdity of the get ups. People simply cannot look the way that they do, they are hyperstylized and that's fun. Much like fetishwear, it's put on specifically for a non-general use purpose.
Man that was a lot of typing about something that didn't even really do it for me with the few exceptions on the page that ACTUALLY looked like they were of age.

ok that's just weird.
I'm sorry but cosplay seems to be the equivalent of taking grown women and seeing how close you can get them to looking like jailbait using some of the most unflattering outfits you can find. yes I know they're based on mangas. but you don't see American/European models going around trying to dress up like obscure comic book characters.
with the exception of this:

the rest are more creepy than cute.
