What's up with the lack of Work in Progresses?

And it got alot harder to create custom content for UT3 with the increased detail quality.

I don't think that's the issue. It's because of how UE3/UT3 handles things more strict and annoying than anything ever released. I hate MaterialInstances.

Welcome to the "nextgen" world.

Honestly the overall process of character creation for UT3 has like 3 extra steps from the process from ut2k4.

You still had to set up materials there, the process was just different.

It does have a lot to do with the script differences. Epic dropped the ball with custom family support not being available out of the box at launch.

The required level of detail to make a good looking model in UT3 takes a lot of extra time.
As good as the Xeltan pack is, they are still obviously lower detail/less well constructed than the models that came from epic.

Normal maps may not be required but they really need to be there to help the model stand up.
