UAX files. Is there a de-compiler or browser?

  • Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. It is highly recommended that you configure this to keep your account safe.

Hey there.
I'm wanting to learn more about Unreal Editing etc. but I am used to the Quake engine games MODing and don't know anything about Unreal Editing.

I have noticed that a lot of the files for Unreal are coded into UAX format. Is there any program that allows you to browse UAX files like you would browse a pak file for Quake or is there any way to de-compile a UAX file so that I can have access to the files contained within?

I bought Unreal Tournament but for some strange reason Unreal ED doesn't work properly.
Is UnrealEd used for all Unreal Editing or just level design and is there anywhere I can download the latest copy of the program?

Thanks for any help provided.

-The UEd which shipped with the game is broken. Download the latest patch for UT and that will contain the second release of the editor. (You can download fixes for UEd 1 too...)

-The editor contains a Sound browser which ca export/import and play sounds contained in the packs.

-You can use the UCC program to extract/pack files into all of the package types the Unreal Engine uses. Here are the instructions on it's usage.

-Also visit some tutorial sites if you want to know more about making levels for Unreal/UT.

Yeah, I used to map for HL too. It's kinda strange to use UEd after WC...but you'll get acquainted to it easily.

It's better (and faster) than WC IMHO...
