I made a very sarcastic comment on IRC a day or so ago about moving to a communist country...yet I forget the jist of it.

Having a friend who knows government like the left side of his right hand (the part you can make a gun out of ), I know a lot about governments like communism. This doesn't really have anything to do with communism. The RIAA is being more communist in this situation, by telling you to not download your music, but instead buy it because they say so...correct me if I'm wrong, please.

Hey guys, how come warez are pretty much demonized around here, but MP3's are ok? I'm sure CliffyB doesn't advocate warez, so why are recording artists bad for being against reproduction of their recordings?
Would any mod maker/programmer/mapper like it if a copy of their mod/code/map was being distributed without their consent by a company that is making money off of doing such?

Well, I'm not sure why the amount of money they make makes any difference. I don't think they are upset as much for the financial aspect. Why would they be? Like you said they have all that money. They have all the money, and that's when the integrity of their product starts to mean the most. If you had all that money and used it for charity, to take care of your family, or whatever you wanted, would you just stand idly by while people rip off your album sales? I wouldn't, but that's just me...
