  • Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. actually, sept 2 may be better, with an extra day for labor or memorial day, whichever one it is. i always forget :( but the weekend before that would work too :) anyways, i think that with the one server (possibly 2) that we have so far, and the assortment of hubs/switches we have would be good. basically, everyone bring any and all networking equipment you have, lol, and we should be fine :D

as for places, the only real hotel i know of in redmond is the marriot residence inn in Redmond town center, and i don't know whether it has a conference room. Bellevue has a crapload of them though, so one of them is bound to have a place :) also, i think $30 is a good price to shoot for.

Hmm if you guys get a date set and it's b4 my school starts I might be able to make it. And if any PuF's in LA area need to hitch a ride I'll be most happy to oblige, tho once again depends on the date:)
edit: Ouch it's like a bazillion miles to Seattle. I really need to remember how big Ca is. Well a train is always an option:)

well, im going to get a 8 port switch later today, im deciding which one im going to get. well i know which one im getting, but i dont know from which site yet
theres 2 sites that i will by from
one is $150 but then comes w/ a free 8 port HUB
so im looking @ that one. its backordered a bit so im going to call them see how long itll take till i can get it.
the other one is only $120. ill get this one if the other one is backordered too much.
hopefully the one w/ the free HUB isnt backordered too much.
ill keep ya posted on the status on that.
but, im also wondering do you guys want a tournament?
i thought that could be fun, let me know what you guys think. do any of you have any plans?

alright, i just ordered a intel inbusiness 8 port switch, so that'll work good for the LAN, but that probabley wont hold everyone so does anyone have any 10/100 HUBS or other switches?
also everyone has cableing too?
or do we need more?

I already posted that I have an 8port hub. ;P We'll be able to supply our own cables, but we probably should have any extras on hand that we can.

A tournament would be pretty cool, so if there's an interest we'll hold something like that (maybe we could buy some little prizes if the place doesn't cost too much and everyone plans on $30).

We need to finalize voting on date, so I'm gonna try to email everyone and hope they don't hold it against me. ;) Right now the choices are of Saturdays from now til the end of Sept. Also, who's calling around? I heard mention that Kukuman and Gamorz were? It would be great if you guys could post a list of what options are available by say Wednesday? (You can both email me places to call.) Be sure to ask them which saturdays the rooms are available. Thanks! :)

Damn, this is going fast. I need to check the boards more often :).

Okay, I can easily have a Bay 303 24 port 100Mip switch available. I'll have about 5-6 cat5 cables available at various lenghts. I can't supply a server, and I'm available any weekends as long as I have enough lead time notice...say 2-3 weeks.

Also, in response to WAnk, I probably will want to branch off of UT as well, StarCraft, Half-Life, Shogo (really fun on a LAN) and others. That is if I don't get too cought up in UT. Also, if anyone finds a place, talk to me I might be able to get a corporate discount there.

yah, looks like networking equipment won't be a problem now, lol. anyways, yah, i haven't been calling around 1) because i am lazy and 2) because i work :/ sorry, other people seem to be taking care of that part :/

lol, harm that would be freaking badass if troll and smalls showed up :D that would leave us with 4 crazy LoLs running around ;) too bad sf isn't like, say, right on the other side of redmond ;)

Since i havent lived there for like 5 years now, can someone give me some ideas of who to call?
i only remember a few places, and well see what happens with those....
ill see who has the best time's that we can hold it, and cheapest prices. by that well, find out what date.

I think we should do a tournament, but not have the whole LAN party be the tournament. We should only have part of the time be a tournament and the rest be a free gaming session.

yah, soooo, tournament would be good, prizes would be good, even if it is just an extra slice of pizza ;) oh yah, troll mentioned that she might come if she could get a computer to play on up here. does anyone have some extra gaming computers they might be able to lend to bait smalls troll and others up here? :D i am checking around, but no one wants to lend me their comps, the bastards :p heh, oh yah, and harm and troll both mentioned corporate discounts and stuff, so maybe we should get some ideas from them about where these discounts may take effect. i am getting stoked for this :D

Train tickets maybe...umm btw this is a stupid question but do trains work like planes in terms of luggage. Cos if I have to have my baby stowed away in a separate dark compartment far away from me it will require extra fine packing:)

i guess i have a question for you guys...
of course im kinda rushing finding a place to see if we can get it this weekend, or do you want to wait and have it in a couple weeks?
that would make it so we can have it better planned and have some cali people come on up.
of course if we do have it this weekend we can always have more still! :)

Okay today I will check around for a place, anyone disagree with having it in SeaTac, cause I'm going to check the plethora of hotels around there. I will not make any reservations yet but will post all the different rates.

And for the person asking about Corporate Discounts, you just tell the person who your renting the room from that your from such and such company and you get a nifty 3-10% discount :).
