Overclocking - What Am I Doing Wrong?

  • Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. It is highly recommended that you configure this to keep your account safe.

A few random things.

Do you have aftermarket cooling?
If you answered yes, try bumping up the cpu voltage slightly.

Try a lower overclock. ram won't matter at all because you've manually locked it, as well as the pci locked to 100. that's how I run my OC.

HardOCP has some great tutorials on overclocking method/practice in the forums. I highly recommend reading them. I'm running over 3ghz on my 1.8ghz C2D chip with a slight increase in vcore, but I have a *really* extreme cpu cooler.

UT games are especially CPU sensitive. Your OC probably wasn't stable enough for the game. And yes, this has happened with other people as well who think their OC is stable.
