Yeah, it's really sad here where I live... every few months you hear about some senior who was hit by a car (happened a few weeks ago actually, right before christmas) and killed.... and for some reason its always the successful, smart, popular kids (this last one was Homecoming Queen, cheerleader, ASB President, the works... she was gorgeous too... ) who get it... why can't those damn drunk drivers take out the losers sometimes? :( :(

I really hope you are joking. Do you really think that popularity somehow makes you a better person or your life more valuable? What a crock of sh*t.

Yeah, I'm serious. I think that someone who has potential (she was a really smart person, had a 4.4 some odd GPA and was going to go to Stanford) is a lot more important than some stoner hanging out on a corner smoking dope. One is going to become a productive member of society, one is going to end up in a state prison and suck funds from society.
This isn't always true (look at 50cent), but I'd say smart people are valued more than druggies, yes.

did I say that? No, I don't think I did.
What I am saying is that it's a bigger loss to society to lose someone who might become productive and usefull than someone who's never gonna do anything in life.
I make no accusations.

Still, the quintessential feel-good story is the going-nowhere loser who turned his life around. In your world they would be dead halfway to the employment office.

What I find sad is that all these people in the article were gushing about what a wonderful human being she was, such a light, such a beacon... I'm guessing good or bad, half the cheerleaders on that trip hated her guts this time a week ago. Funny how death colors your memory of a person... [/cynic]

Who says the Homecoming queen, head cheerleader, blah blah, isn't a druggie? See my thread about the drunken naked cheerleader who fell off a hotel balcony...hours after checking into the hotel?

Your argument is valid if all the "useful" people died. These kids are in high school! Who knows what they will end up as, and determining their values on future prospects is a pretty terrible method. (These aren't college atheletes...hell, scouts rarely get good calls on college atheletes, as many bust in the pros).

ohhh no another cheerleader dead boo freakin hoo. I have seen what happens to cheerleaders after highschool they serve me breakfest at the local Denny's. I cannot beleive some of you actually think that just because you are a good person in highschool that you have a better chance at being a so called ''productive member of society'' what a bunch of garbage.

Yeah, I don't consider this tragic. Hell, just yesterday I was told a girl I knew from high school was murdered in her front yard. She was beat to death and then the house was called and they told her family to look out front. And this was a nice neighborhood. Makes me wonder who she got involved with.
