I just found the time to dig into INF again this weekend.

I know I'm late but I gotta say: Geo, UN and whoever is involved into WP1.5 did an outstanding job! Really amazing what you squeezed out of the 7 year old engine!

Too bad we aren't enough to really start some sort of league, now that we have the most advanced INF ever ...

P.S. Do I still have beta team access? (I don't blame anyone if I was removed due to disappearance) - I'd like to report a few things I noticed.

I am guessing the problem is that Linux thinks 0,0,0 is transparent when it should be black. :)

Actually it's more subtle then that. There is two way to set the rendering mode of a texture (Translucent, Masked, etc.) when applied to a mesh. You either set it as a flag in the texture during import or you set it as a flag in the mesh/surface to force it to the rendering mode desired.

Normally, the second method overides the first, but for some reason, not on Linux. So instead of having the texture rendered using the mode specified in the Mesh flags, it always uses the texture flags when present. If not present, and only then, it uses the mesh flags.

That create a huge mix-up that lead to some things working and others not.

This is a pretty serious flaw IMO and I can't believe no one came on the problem (and fixed it) before.

The only detail I'll address is the new M16 family hitting the mag after the reload. I have to say Geo... THANK YOU. It's a personal pet peve of mine when people say don't do it or not to include it because militaries advise against it.

It's true. I was taught it damages the magazine when you do it and trust me it does. over time the feed rim at the top bends out of shape creating more stoppages and when you train you don't just throw mags away you keep them in circulation (at war time you can throw them away).

/End rant.

There is also another reason why the military advises against it, as i was taught with out Stery AUG, you shouldn't tap the bottom of the magazine in (or how my DS said it, "Slap it in Rambo style"), as it can cause a double feed, thus jamming your rifle, so Geo you beter impelement a 50% probility of jamming when tapping the bottom in!

The correct way to insert a magazine with the M16 and Stayr families in to insert the top of the magazine in to the magazine well (bullets facing forwards for you new recruits), and push it up into the well until the magazine catch clicks in. If unsure of the magazine being secure, give it a little rattle, and see if it can be removed without force.

But then the Steyr AUG has a much better magazine catch system! :)

The correct way to insert a AK magazine is to "hook" the front lip of the magazine into the action body, then proceed to swing the rear of the top of the magazine up into the catch, this is due to the AK family not having a magazine well as such. But if allows for a much more positive magazine locking, and with practice, can be done as fast as with M16 type rifles
