my intentions were good.
it's not really a hijack anyway because there was no original purpose to this topic. I simply enjoy the break a Plumb thread provides from the usual BS. where some see spam, I see opportunity.

so yeah, suck on that.

you really like that?
I'm glad someone actually listened to it. those are 2 different groups obviously but they're each an example of modern Tuareg music. it's basically what you get when people descended from ancient desert nomads (no homeland of their own, historically persecuted like Gypsies) pick up electric guitars after getting their hands on old Delta Blues records from the 60's and 70's.

the influence of American blues is evident as is a distinct "middle-Eastern" sound. but the final result is a pretty incredible original blend of these various inspirations. it's something both new and old, exotic but recognizable. I, for one, have been smitten with it for the last couple years. I try to recommend bands like Bombino and Tinariwen to my friends whenever they're looking for new stuff.

if you really enjoyed those first 2 songs, you should check out some more.
these guys won't disappoint.

This is some good work music. The vocals are not distracting because I don't understand the language, they just become part of the music. Tinariwen at least is on Spotify, I haven't looked for the other ones.

what do you think of this version:

[m]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m2TmOpcBxYY[/m]

it's not as long but higher quality.
I think it's better on the whole, like when it hits the chorus.

turn it up loud :D
