Im 17 , 18 in May. I use the male metal guard skin with the gold face. I think the skin looks good so I use it.
In a perfect world the only people who would use female skins, would be female themselves. But lets face it, there arent that many women who play UT. So my idea really isnt that good an idea /~unreal/ubb/html/frown.gif

I'm 19, will be 20 never. (er, el Cinco de Septiembre, I mean)

To whoever said that the male skins are dopey looking (or however they put it).. you're wrong! Maybe I'm just crazy but I think that really buff, shirtless dude with the white hair is kinda hot. Or maybe I just don't see my boyfriend enough and have nothing better to do than ogle some nonexistent dude who likes guns. /~unreal/ubb/html/wink.gif Then again people have quite strange crushes on Lara Croft, and other digitized cuties. My last nasty crush was on Cloud Strife, but I finally realized he's not a real person after my friend so kindly pointed out that he's nothing but a bunch of shaded polygons. (that 5' cardboard cutout was so lifelike..) Wooow ok time to change the subject, I'm getting silly. /~unreal/ubb/html/wink.gif

I do agree that I'd really like to see some better-clothed female skins. Right now, my choices are either looking like some masculine woman who would want me as her prison bitch, or somebody who got kicked out of adult films for being too cheesy. Let's face it, some of those female soldier skins are.. well.. kinda mannish looking. The others are too slutty. I can't imagine running around in fishnets and a bodysuit while wielding a rocket launcher, it just doesn't seem appropriate. I think I'd rather be wearing some sort of bodily protection or something. (how novel, eh) It's possible to be well-covered but still look badassed. Hell, somebody make a Trinity skin from the Matrix! She's my hero, err heroine. /~unreal/ubb/html/smile.gif

Ok well um I hope I managed to stay on topic for this post, hehe /~unreal/ubb/html/smile.gif

rofl Xylene! And for the record, Cloud Strife is hot...*drool*

I hate to mention *cough* Q3, but the QGirlz are in the process of running a female Model/skin/sound competition. We all voted on the models here (and I have to say that Paul Steed got whupped...). Anyway, you might find it interesting to read the design guidelines for the comp (which were formulated by a large group of us). It would be nice if people who made UT skins took some of these 'rules' to heart...

Damn I forgot my point. Must be that pesky alzheimers kicking in... *smacks Taskmaster in the shins with a walking stick*

20. male. Born in combat, will die in combat.

I've always used the male models for online play. I'm a military brat, so the whole team warfare part of the game is just fun for me. I like the male Mercenary skins best.

I've been wondering about the female skins; I've made a couple myself, it takes a little getting used to the different texture formats.

I specialize in SpecOps/commando/space marine, really military type skins, so that's what I've tried.

I have a Trinity skin almost done, I just need to find the right face for it, should be done soon.

Want me to post some of my work?

I must say, those models are pretty damned cool. I think #34 is cool, although kinda Spice-Girlish *shudder* with those funked up meat-tenderizer looking ponytails. What especially caught my eye was the link to the PMS site on the second page you mentioned. Damnit, have they got an Unreal division? /~unreal/ubb/html/wink.gif
Although reading through the design guidelines made me think of something else. Hey guys, we don't REALLY scream and moan like porn stars when we get hurt. Or at least I don't. /~unreal/ubb/html/smile.gif

Once again I've managed to not make a point.

Did you ever notice how similiar heroine is to heroin (the word that is, not the actual thing). I always that was dangerous, but then I suppose both is, if you try to smoke it.

Oh and I'm 20, 21 in about a month and I think none of the skins in UT are very good, so I chose the least ugly one (male mercenary). And worst of all is the boss skin everyone seems to favour. Being a mainstreamer is boring.

LOL! We got a bunch of drag queens running a round LOL! /~unreal/ubb/html/biggrin.gif. Man I could never use a womens skin guess I'm 2 insucure or something LOL! /~unreal/ubb/html/biggrin.gif.
Seriously though I think people should at least use some thought in choosing a nick name be creative people. I use the commando model (you know the guy with the light camo. on his face, since I'm a "GUY" /~unreal/ubb/html/biggrin.gif I use the male model LOL! /~unreal/ubb/html/biggrin.gif
I use user models as bots for some reason UT wont let me use skins (sigh...) It's cool you can do that instead of useing just the models that was provided with the game (I'm not saying they aren't good) all I'm saying is you can have a variety which provides even more style 2 you liking. /~unreal/ubb/html/biggrin.gif

18 or thereaboouts. I am a woman! and I play UT alot. I too wish for better female skins, but alas they are hard to find (come on blackstar, i want that trin skin!). as for names/models, who cares what people play as. men play with outrageous and sexual names, women should be able to as well (anyone who thinks otherwise, well, they should be fragged). however, the truth is that female models are more frequently targeted. if two male skins and then i come into your base, youre gonna shoot me first. this is a fact. so men who play as women could also be just seeking more desperate combat. just a thought.

Ok...this is probably going to incite a flame war against me, but here goes.

Stop bitching about the blatant inaccuracies of the female models!! How many computer playing geeks look like a commando?? I sure as hell don't! And I'm sure most women don't look like the over-idealized barbies in the games either, but it's a GAME!

Women bitch and bitch about how the media sells them an image that they think they have to live up to. And I agree! It's bullsh*t! But here's a little news flash...they do the same thing to us guys. We get bombarded with the same media blitz that makes us feel inadequate if we don't look like super-jocks.

But when it comes to the game, I want something cool, damnit! I wanna be a commando, or a wired up android, not some 6'6", gangly long haired goof!(Which I am /~unreal/ubb/html/smile.gif ).

So what I'm trying to get at is, yes...the models are highly unrealistic. And I, like you, would LOVE to see more variety in the player models(that's my only b*tch about UT vs. Q3A is that Quake had a crapload of awsome models, even though UT's are more customizable with faces.) But the game is about ESCAPISM! No one wants to be themselves in the game! They want to be bada$$, or sexy, or anything...

Now... I realize that many of you women don't necessarily mind the current females, you just want more variety, possibly in a less sexual way. I say great! Bring on the variety. But stop bitching about the idealization thrust upon the female models. Because it goes both ways.

Ok...flame away /~unreal/ubb/html/smile.gif

temp i think you brought the subject up. ive not seen any bitching, i only saw two girls (pixel and I) and we merely wanted more variety in the skins. maybe women with clothes, cool clothes. maybe women who look tough and combat ready and sexy all at the same time, not just like a whore with a gun.

Strange Init?

Almost every post ive started lately seems to IMMEDIATELY shoot off in an altogether unexpected way only to wander back again and see if there is any relevance left to the original..

Well In a way i spose there is-girls want to look coll and sexy sure i understand that and i wholeheartedly agree that a bimbo with no crotch or top on aint the most sexy thing i could wish to see, what is more alluring to a lot of us is the thought of whats concealed under the clothing ( i may be a minority here i dunno ) rather than what can be freely seen...

Dunno .

Ohhh yeah the age thing was not realy a serious point sorry ... /~unreal/ubb/html/smile.gif

Hmm...ok...maybe bitching was too strong of a word. And I didn't mean to insinuate that the people here were bitching. I was making a broad statement about several things, and was using the "female models in games" issue as a sounding board.

Sorry if I gave the wrong impression. Most of this was inspired by reading the comments of the female players on the link to the QGirls modeling contest. To me, it sounded like they were bitching. And it's not like this is the first time I've seen this issue brought up.

Anyways, I'm all for more variety in the female(and male for that matter)model department.

Blah...I could just go on and on here, but it's been my experience in forums that voicing this kind of feeling only results in endless flame wars, and I don't have time to try to carry on a lengthy discussion on-line. Take my post for whatever you think it's worth. I've said my bit. /~unreal/ubb/html/smile.gif

"And I'm sure most women don't look like the over-idealized barbies in the games either, but it's a GAME!"

But why should women be restricted? There'd be outroar if the game had come with a single unisex skin/model, so why should it so clearly be divided into muscular men and women who need the heaters on or they'll get cold /~unreal/ubb/html/smile.gif.

Your skin usually says a lot about the player, some people don't care, but a lot of people pick something that represents their online personality or something of themselves. Why the hell should we have to stay with these stupid sci-fi trends of skimpy women and six pack men?

Anyway, I wanna be a Quitch /~unreal/ubb/html/smile.gif
