FBI creates fake website to catch Pedo's

  • Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. It is highly recommended that you configure this to keep your account safe.

It's a bit long for some of you I'm sure, but worth a read.

I was thinking about this. Knowing the internet, anyone can simply say "Hey, check out my game demo footage" and link them to the FBI catch site. Of course they had no intent on actually looking at child porn, but the FBI doesn't care. You would still get arrested and thrown in prison.

They just don't seem to care. The judges don't seem to want real hard proof anymore either. "oh pedo?, ok here is a warrant".

It's a crime to click on an illegal hyperlink. How do I know if it's illegal or not? "www.icanhazcheezburger.com" could be illegal for all I know. :/

So, if we don't hear from xtc for awhile, he's gone to jail! (just joking man, please don't try to kill me again)

I'm glad I'm living in a region where this sort of practise is illegal. It's one thing to stop crime, it's another to provoke it.

This reminds me of stop lights with cameras on them, where they send tickets to the owner of the car, but make no attempts at figuring out who was driving when the incident happened.

I mean, the difference between murder and manslaughter is intent... why is this so cut-and-dry when it's immediately chopped up by the same principles behind the practice of getting Rick Roll'd?

This could possibly be used in conjunction with additional evidence, but raiding someone's house on that basis alone surely is unconstitutional. Any word of them invading anyone else's house, besides the college professor's? Sounds like he really was a pedophile, though. At least they posted it on a forum that people tend to share those kinds of pictures on, otherwise it'd be like The_Numberless said and it'd be the new Rick Roll. :p

Although it does seem bad that the government does have that much control, the fact that the professor destroyed his hard drives doesn't help his case.

Well, if the FBI or anyone else from the government come knocking at my door, I have quick access to my HDD's to toss them in the microwave on high.

The amount of pirated software and music on here could set me back a few billion.

I have dynamite rigged inside my comp...

Btw this "News" = Olds and everyone in this thread is just parroting what millions have said already, it takes a split second to realize people could lead random people into the link. What I heard though is that you actually have to try to download the fake stuff before they get you so you're asking for it if you try to download it even if you were fake linked there. :p

Yeah, I saw this on 4chan, and I also saw a bunch of people suggesting, that this should replace RickRolling.
