Despite the PC being a primary platform again for Epic Games, the fact that they have five non-Gears titles in the works, and admitting that they have been neglecting the Unreal franchise, Mike Capps drops the bomb on Forbes, stating "we're not currently working on an Unreal IP project".

Unreal and Unreal Tournament continue to have a huge influence on the studio here, even though we're not currently working on an Unreal IP project. Epic's core game making philosophy of "when everyone says it's done, keep polishing!" came from our experiences with Unreal Tournament. That's the beginning of our quality-focused studio DNA.

Good.
Please bring Shadow Complex games to PC now
And maybe even Gears 3 since it's too good

That's unfortunate. Hopefully we'll see something Unreal related in due time.

Pretty strange, considering he admitted they'd neglected the franchise - tease.

He did say it was good to be working on PC as a primary platform again tho and with 5 new titles in the works PC gamers should get something .

But still, the fact that an Unreal title isn't one of them is a bit of a shock.

Well, this is rather unfortunate for us Unreal fans. I guess Demo Guy won't be striking again, at least for the time being.

At least he didn't say never.

It'd be good if Cliff B could find the enthusiasm to seriously commit to the franchise again, now he's finished with GoW. Say what you want about the guy, but, along with the engine licensing biz, he's pretty much kept Epic going as a major games developer with the success of GoW.

Therein lies the rub however, GoW's success has probably hurt UT. When UT was Epic's bread and butter, it had to be epic.

A fourth game was confirmed way back in January.

You might say TEH Unreal franchise has been desaturated. Not until someone new is willing to inject fresh baby batter will conception take place. Apparently no one has the balls, or the refactory period from UT3 hasn't been long enough...
