Fresus Jist!! Have you all tried the Operation Flashpoint demo?! My god... it scares me to think that this may replace INF for many people...
Operation Flashpoint

The enemy invariably attacks on one of two occasions:
1. When you're ready for them.
2. When you're not ready for them.

Well, like I said in the other OFP-related post, OFP would replace INF for many but hopefully for the good cause. Maybe lots of TKers would find OFP more suitable for them since they can TK in major scale(like bombing your allies or running them over with a tank). And hopefully all the good team-players remain in INF community.
That's my hopeful thinking. ;)

Hmmm true... true. But OFP requires strategy and cunning... so if I get sick of mind games and suppressive fire and snobby commanders online... INF is here waiting to comfort me with sensless realistic violence... ahh... ;)

Nothing will replace INF for me.

Why?

1. I love INF.

2. INF is free. Why pay for something INF like that isn't INF?

3. If I want to kill on huge maps, I'll go play Delta Force 2.

4. I'm here aleady and don't feel like moving.

5. I have issues with commercial games.

Crosshairs? We don't need no stinkin' crosshairs!

for PC maybe

except that since i don't see a Mac version of OFP, this is about as useful to me as handlebars on a duck. i'm sticking with INF, thank you very much.

There is still a sh!tload of work do be done in OPFP. The popup status bar of enemy or friendly soldier completely takes away the strategy part of the game, ie ambushes is out of the question. I hate crosshairs and when using the iron sight view you cannot move very fast. Everything else is so so and not mindboggling IMO. It would be good but nothing in the league of Infiltration whne it comes to realism.

It has promise, but is no where near the level of Infiltration. I was dissappointed playing the demo after seeing all the hype associated. Lets face it, Infiltration has spoiled me for any and all new games to come around for the next few years.

Same here; it's fun and I'll probably buy it, but somehow it just doesn't feel as real as INF. Part of that is the buggy user interface (e.g. if I'm using the sights and crawl forwards six incheas I have to hit a key to go back to sighted fire) and the way the sights on the gun are just a bitmap not a 3D model, but even the textures on the buildings just aren't up to the same standard and the maps seem to be just a whole lot of nothing with a few bushes, trees and buildings dropped in.

So I'm sure I'll be playing OFP quite a lot when it comes out, but I certainly won't be giving up on Inf to do so.

Operation Flash Point

I uninstalled it about as quickly as I installed. I don't think it will replace infiltration for me. I wasn't very impressed with it. Part of the reasoning is the potential for infiltration. I find this version, 2.85, to be very tactical. I like having to depend on the team for help and also supporting my team when they need it. I think that as infiltration is developed even further it will just get better.

I think that OFP is still very arcady compared to INF being combat sim. It's great that you can manipulate all kinds of vehicles. But all you've gotta do in fire fight is to move around your crosshair to look for enemies far away, and when it goes red, just fire it away. This reminds me of the view from Terminator where he could recognize any objects in sight and the names of the objects come up.

Oh well, back to INF. :)

Ya, OFP is too slow for it's graphics, I mean, those were out dated graphics in 98 for god sake!

And, it's extremely buggy, the heli ride at the end was cool though.

I agree with Childboy, this has nothing to do with INF, hence it belongs in the off-topic forum.

Two roads diverged in a wood and I, I decided to turn around, because let's face it, there are muggers and rapists and all kinds of crazy psychos out there...
