Could someone tell me how much the game has changed in the last 6 years?

Ok - I remember playing this game a LONG time ago.

I believe that the version was possibly 1.85 when I started - then I remember 1.86 coming out, and after a while I just stopped playing.

I do believe that the new maps in 1.86 contained a Manor House - because it's what I remember playing when the new patch came out.

I'm Just wondering how much has changed since then.

Things I remember are: no crosshairs (I think), no money like CS - you just choose what you want up to a limit, I remember a wicket auto weapon I loved with a small zoom - but that they actually shifted around when you ran and moved about, ehh and levels.

I recall playing on this one level with some houses, and a small underground passage from one end to the other. I recall one wicked ass level that I loved which seemed like Europe. One team started in this Cuban looking base area, and the other by some water. Err a cool military base style one with a skyway area...

Anyway - lots of babbling. I'm just wondering how the game is now. What's the fanbase like, is there a decent amount of players? How is the fanbase overall? I remember people being a lot kinder in this game than they are in CS. In fact, I don't ever recall people yelling out **** like "n00b" and what not.

I used to love this game. I'd gotten quite good at it until I quit - I remember being at the top of the leaderboard on most servers I played on. I remember being part of some clan too - although I can't remember who they were.

The only thing I do remember is that I used the name Ayala.

Sorry Wizzy, the game is not like CS or INF 1.86. It's more like an action version of Rainbow 6 with 3 times the amount of weapons. Plus hardly anyone plays the base version, there are a lot of mutators that enhance gameplay and such.

It's a little bit like Battlefield 2 with worse graphics but better weapon handling, no vehicles but 10 times more weapons.

Eek, crap. I really was hoping for a realistic game still like 1.86 strived for.

Oh well, I guess I'll give it a shot when I UT:GOTY back - but I was kind of hoping for some good old memories :\

It's weird, "INF 2.86 standart" was an extremely fast arcade game, RAv's improoved it. INF 2.9 is even better than the RAv's, yet still not good enough.
