Hey everyone,
Its almost the end of my school and if I pass my dad buys me a laptop.
The budget won't be very high but I hope I can get a dual core out of it.
The question I would like to ask you all is:
Which laptop specs do I need to run unreal tournament 2004 at max,
And run UT3 at medium? Im not sure if thats possible since its a laptop,
but I already got a desktop computer which can run ut2k4 on max.
It just can't handle UT3 somehow but thats why I would like a laptop.
The second reason I want a laptop is because my parents are divorced.
Its easier to travel it along with me.
So yeah, Which specs should I be looking for?
Anyone got a brand+model of his laptop which can run ut3?
I hope you guys can help me out.
Thankyou in advance.

Regards the graphics, I'm not sure how laptop ATi/AMD cards perform so can't relate to them, but I know an nvidia 8600M GT would fit the bill as a minimum to meet your requirements above (i.e. medium settings with UT3), with 8700M being more desirable; I think there is a 9500M out but I think that's just a re-branded 8600M.

2GB RAM is a must.

I'd say a Core 2 Duo 1.66Ghz would be fine as minimum to meet those requirments too, although anything better would be preferred.

I see, I was thinking about 2gig ram too since thats more then enough for ut2k4 and counterstrike source.
Im still scared that I proberly can't run UT3 on the laptop since its using a nextgen engine,
with directx 10 I think?
So yeah, Once there are more replies ill write down the specs I could get the best and start searching the web :)

I saw that one on Dell.com too.
Its a nice one but on Bol.com I saw this one:

HP pavilion DV9890ed 4096MB / 500GB

Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo - T8100
2100 MHz

OS: Windows Vista Home Premium Edition

RAM: 4096 MB DDR2 SDRAM (2 x 2048 MB)
Hard drive: 500 GB (SATA, 5400 RPM)
Mediastations: Blu-Ray DVD±RW Dual Layer

TFT screen: 17.1 inch
Resolution: 1440 x 900 Pixels

graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GS
memory: 512 MB

The specs are really good for E 1200(euros) right?
Im not quite sure yet...

Practically nothing has DX10 as a requirement. DX9 will work fine.

You'll want at least 2gb of RAM and a good processor. Hell, 2gb of ram is basically a requirement for any vaguely medium-to-high end machine. Also, note that UT3 will scale up to multiple cores, 2k4 will not.

Seconding the vote for the mac -- my father has a bootcamped macbook pro, and it runs... pretty much anything you can throw at it. You'll be paying extra for the products, but it'll probably last forever. They have a nice rebate offer right now if you're in college, though.

Toshiba, and Sony laptops are considered by laptop techs to be ****e.

Notebooks aren't meant for gaming. Period. Can they game? Yes...
