I'd prefer it on PC myself, much more flexability, tweaking and expansion. Also I don't like joysticks :p
Well, I think there shouldn't be THAT much of a leap in requirements, but that's just me.

The_Head do you maybe know dual core is for gamers to?

Yeh, in the future. No games at the moment gain any performance directly from the second core. The only performance you will see is the game not being slowed down by any background programs.
I'm going to get a Dual core as soon as a can afford a 4800, being able to run 2 or more programs at full speed is going to be v. nice

I'm waiting til' the games are actually released.
Hell I didn't get any upgrades ofr htis comp til' 2k4 was well into it's release phase.

Besides... not only do you have UT2007 to contend with.. but Quake4 (which is looking freakin' amazing) and wasn't there also a new Crytech (teh Farcry peeps) engine in the works as well right now?

It's still way too early to be making threads like this.

Man this whole forum shouldn't have gone up til' like 3-4 months before release.

^^ so it did. :)
That game is old though and single core processers get through it just as quick.
I wasn't really into pc gaming back when the SMP on quake would have been well known. Was it a good performance increase?

@ Lauren
Yes, ATI are working on a linking system. Iirc it will be a connection via the motherboard not over a bridge (like on SLI)
The game being made with NVidia won't necessarily effect performance on ATI cards.

@Boogity
About not adding the forum until nearer the release. They want to build excitement about the game :D
Who knows Epic may be reading this to learn what people want in the game (crosses fingers)

Not true. While Epic DOES have a partnership with nvidia, they also have a partnership with microsoft, and microsoft uses ATI in their xbox 360's, as well as with whatever else they might come out with. So, I'm guessing ATI and Nvidia should come out close to equal on 2007. That is, unless ATI comes out with a kickass revolutionary card that totally ownz nvidia's. GO ATI!

EDIT: oh, and yeah, they have announced a new linking system, that is said to work through the motherboard without a connector cable as well as allow different cards to link together. They've also announced 500 mb cards too.

Agree with LP- to run it well it'll need
a PPU
?2GB - depending on how well memory controllers will have developed
at least a 256k graphics card
A fast dual cored processor - i.e. an AMD

Why on earth would you buy a new intel rig now; since a socket 939 mobo will accept a dual cored chip.

Stalling and saving till socket M2 is probably sensible - and spending on a cheap system now; and investing in the case, PSU, monitor and other eternals.
(a relative term, of course)
