the closest thing to worship in my life is the worship of whatever pussy I happen to be sleeping with at the time.

I love my car. I love baseball and football. I love my guitar. I love music. and I love my friends / family.
I don't worship anything. that's how atheism works :p

You forgot weed... sweet, sweet weed.

what the hell makes you think he's even truly religious OR that he's not really a dick?

What makes you think Obama's NOT truly religious? He hasn't actually done anything that indicates that he's not a Christian. And with regards to the part about him not being a dick, I think Selerox meant that he's not the type of religious person who will shove his views down your throat through laws and bills, unlike, say, Paul Ryan.

Why is that Obama's religiosity is always questioned? No one ever says that Mitt Romney's not really a Mormon. No one ever accuses Joe Biden/Paul Ryan/John Kerry of not really being Catholics. When it comes to Obama, it's always stuff like, "He's a secular atheist/radical Islamist." Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying you're racist. But I do think you've bought into the false narrative that's being painted by extreme-right talk show hosts and people like Newt Gingrich. Actions speak louder than words, and Obama hasn't done anything to indicate that he isn't a Christian.

For whatever it's worth, I don't (to put it mildly) like Obama. I don't like that he continued the Bush legacy of unconstitutionality: supporting the PATRIOT Act, signing the NDAA (signed on New Years Eve no less), and taking it a step further and killing American citizens (including bystanders who had nothing to do with what was going on) without giving them a trial, along with refusing to stand by Valerie Plame in her lawsuit against Dick Cheney. With that said, I'm sick of seeing people question his religious credentials. He has proven himself to be no different than anyone else running for office when it comes to his religion.

For all intents and purposes, Obama's presidency is just an extension of the Bush Administration with a (barely) liberal twist. The only things he has done so far that I can say I 100% approve of are getting rid of DADT, supporting women's issues, and killing Bin Laden. He's the Democrats' political equivalent of George W. Bush, and Mitt Romney is the Republicans' equivalent of Barack Obama. This year, it's just another election between two bowls of shit. The only difference is the smell.

I think it's funny how so called Christians question another Christians faith. Who the fuck are you?!

It's only because he's black, a Democrat and has a middle eastern sounding name.

I'm just questioning the "Oh he's so religious!" chant by some folks here that are far from being religious. I'm not religious & I find it laughable when people are anti-religious that try to prop up Obama as being some sort of enlightened religious figure. He's a sexually confused politician with daddy issues who was raised by an anti-American mother who had a penchant for guys from third-world countries and their post-colonial struggles. He admittedly hung out with socialist revolutionaries during college because that's all he knows & feels comfortable around.

-Democrat who goes to church = obviously not a real Christian

-Supports Gay rights and ended Dont Ask Don't Tell = Sexually Confused

-His Mother believed that the US isn't always right when it comes to invading other nations = Anti-USA

A very accurate description of Obama you've got there.

I don't think anyone here tried to prop up Obama to make him out to be more religious than he actually is; on the contrary, I identify with a president who's more like me than one who is not. The point of the article and my posting it was to present how nonobjective people can act in order to preserve their own power and influence over others to cause hate and alienate someone. Which is precisely what I see the right-wing Christian groups doing in this presidential race.

The reasons you outlined were not why i made those assertions. I need not go into all the information that's out there about him because I know it doesn't make one iota of difference with this crowd on this message board. His past shaped him and he's trying to shape this country in a subversive way based largely on how he was influence by radicals, dissidents, socialists and communists. Luv Studd I don't think you're propping him up as a religious guy, but people think that politicians are suddenly believable just because they're religious and it's BS. Some of you can cry and whine all you want about extreme right opponents of Obama, but they're no different than far left opponents of Bush, which many of you are.

Stop watching that Dreams from My Real Father movie. That shit isn't true. If this was 30 years ago, Republicans would be staying how Obama is the best president ever. Republicans are so far extreme right now, it's scary.

I don't know of a single person who's past has not shaped them.

If by radicals you mean the Tea Party, then no I do not think so. Be careful what words you use when trying to lump someone into a category.

Key difference: people didn't like Bush because of his policies, not because he is black and his Dad was Muslim. If people did have actual complaints about Obama, they would not always mold into "he is a communist fascist atheist Muslim", which, ironically, he cannot be at the same time.

Leave it to Iron Archer to forget about the weapons of mass dissapearing.

You know, a LEGITIMATE reason for all those 'left' of the tiny niché that is american conservatism (which means almost every other country in the world) to dislike Bush.
