I think XMP is lacking any protection against hackers, team killers, people who need to be banned and people who are a disgrace to the community.

XMP needs Punkbuster or some other cheat/hack freeing program and a way for people to ban peopls IP's, these guys who go around servers TKing and immitating people etc.

If XMP was freed of people like this it would attract lots of gamers, a few of my friends played at first but found a few fools immitating people and felt it was un safe, anyone agree?

Anyone agree something is needed to ban IP's, some kinda CD-Key requirement or something safe???

Since the game has already shipped, and there is no cd key for U2, I don't think it is possible to retrofit a key to the game at this point.

There is a anti-TK mutator, but servers admins have to run it, so as a player you can't do much there.

Finally, I don't see how imping makes a play environment "unsafe" -- it's not like they can charge your credit card. Maybe I didn't understand your point...

I haven't seen any out and out cheats in XMP. I guess the community is small enough that all the hardcore cheaters moved on to UT2K4.

most of the anti-tk mutators I've seen are either too harsh, making it impossible to put up defenses for fear your own team will run over them and get you killed or kicked or banned, or they don't do enough to actually deter a tk'er.

the best defense against tk'ers is a server where the admins keep a good watch or are easily available to show up and put an end to any problems and deal with it. anything else will either punish the good players, or do absolutely nothing to stop the problem.

just my opinion though.

A long long way from home...
I may be being a bit naive here but are people actually cheating? or is it just glitches in the game... looks too hard to be possible!

I know a friend that has made a mutator to reduce the damage of a sniper rifle to half, unless it's a headshot and then it's instant kill... thats the nearest thing i've seen to cheating... maybe the balls of the shotgun have all individually assigned trajectories that could go on untill they hit something?

:D funny how lots of people get accused of cheating for not really doing anything wrong... Just what the accuser hasn't figured out how to do yet... :/

I love the people who yell, "AIM BOT CHEATER MUTHER@%*ER!!!" when I kill them with the secondary on my Assault Rifle.

"Learn to dodge/jump then, foo'!" :D

I havent seen any cheats as of yet, although, I did see somone stick a machine gun turret in a generator that was impossible to blow up. :(

Ugh, those. Apparently sometimes (random) if you approach a generator it will be unhackable.. but you can place deployables inside it. Never seen this myself but a friend of mine discovered it while playing solo. Only solution is to deprive them of enough power it self-destructs.

:D hehehe
I had a similar picture. I fragged a juggernaut with an assault's alt fire from a far distance spending more than one clip and automatically became accused of hacking :D
This poor fragged guy was yelling "****** hacker, you cant frag the juggernaut with an assault riffle"

Actually, those turrets inside of generators aren't invincible, nor are they actually where you see them. It's a clipping/display bug, and the turret is actually on top of the generator, but the model fell 'through' the front of the generator, displaying the annoyance inside of the generator. The turret is truly just standing on top of the generator. Maybe a bit tough to hit, but just fire something EMP'ish over the top of the generator and the turret will be gone.

I figured that out after I nearly got killed by that 'turret' inside of a generator. I placed one of my own turrets outside of the enemy turret's firing arc, facing it, and my turret locked and started firing over the generator. I then realised the situation and quickly EMP'ed before my turret stole my well deserved 75 points. ;)

I still have my old beta key and the old beta builds and maps for keeps sakes. Like most of the beta guys we kept our stuff. Needed something to remember the old days by.

i saw a vid of a well known clan's player health going up continaully enabling them to never run out of health....explanation? This was through a war not just a one off. Its ignorant to put ur head in the sand and pretend things dont happen cos it would ruin ur view of the community etc. ive seen cheats kill communities through lack of action and through the wrong action taken to late....its very hard to combat it infact id says its virtually impossible once u have a whole community setup to creating cheats and cracking anticheat software. i remeber a laughable situation when a anti cheat prog was released and the day before it was released a hack/cheat was created that would negate it, turned out one of the beta testers for the anti cheat protection software was also a avid member the cheatin community.
