A new INF low.

Was playing on aeuro server today where a couple of attackers thought it would
be a good idea to cover half of the map in smoke grenades. They're in front of it
and don't see the smoke behind them. THeir framerate is fine. I'm looking at
them and at the smoke behind them and I'm gettin 6 FPS. I loose the fire fight
because those lamers decided to exploit the smoke. You guys tryed to prevent
this, but your settup doesn't work. They chose to ruin my fun by cheating. I
thought this community was better than that.

That sounds pretty cheap. :/

The only thing I can say about this is, try to get a server admin involved if such as situation occurs. If that fails, leave the server and join one with decent people.

Yup, I put one smoke grenade at a choke point to get in the target building and everything worked as charm. Your clanmate though descided to put the entire map under smoke, even when defending. That's why we kicked him twice. I didn't mind too much, I just set camp somewhere outside too much smoke.

*roll eyes* Not being able to deal with smoke is a problem inherent to slow connections/old video cards. What’s next, demanding that Inf be configuration-locked so people with bigger monitors don’t have an “unfair” advantage?

SaraP remember not everyone can afford the latest hardware.

Inf uses and old engine that doesn't help but its not unreasonable to expect a bit of fairness when playing and for people to not exploit things like this.

SaraP, I often feel I just smoked the hell out of a map after I fired off 5 40mm smoke nades and threw a smoke nade myself. But that was still nothing compared to what happend on the servers today. Also, the smoke put was useless smoke, because it smoked the enemy players and nothing in the LOF, and nothing near friendly players.

From what I recall even my pc started lagging and I have a p4 2,4 Ghz, you would think that's enough.

Everything in Inf or any other game can be abused. It's why we need admins and all.
Somebody complained to me about KW but I don't remember why :p but from what I've seen, he looks mature enough :con:

Well, if it was KeihasWarrior, I don't generally think of him trying to be abusive when it comes to playing games. I'd more likely believe he either had some tactic in mind (besides slowing down framerates) or got turned around on the map. Nontheless, we'll talk with him, and find out what the deal was. However, and I don't mean to put anyone on the spot here, it would be nice if anyone had a demorec to prove it was our clannie's actions. As a side note, it's a good idea at all times to start a demorec if you think someone's abusing or cheating, so that you have proof in the future. I'm not trying to say that you're trying to pin the blame on him because I do trust you guys, but I am saying having something to back you up makes discussing it with my clan member easier.

Also in the future, if any of you have a problem with a Phoenix Rising member, make sure to state your reddress in our forums so we can have the matter looked at. We take these kinds of accusations seriously and want to only set a positive example for the community from our clan. You can get to the clan page at http://pr.kegnet.net, or our forums at http://forums.kegnet.net . Thanks in advance.

The inefficient way UT handles transparent sprites can bring even the fastest computers to thier knees. I wouldn't make any assumptions until you see it happen for yourself.

I have a TI4200 128ddr
XP1800+
512 mb PC2100 DDR RAM

That can handle RTK at 1600*1200 with an average framerate of 22FPS. It
cannot, however, handle 10+ smoke grenades on screen. There's using smoke
for cover and using smoke to cripple. Geuss what this was.
