Near Dark 3/10
This felt as though it had been made by someone who had read a third-hand description of a Coen brothers film - mildly rural, small-town and motel settings and unlikeable, thinly-drawn characters (but without the saving grace of a Coen brothers quirky trait to the character).
At the end of it, I could not have cared less if none of the characters had survived.
Were there any compensating merits? Not really. With the exception of one scene in a bar, the moment there was a hint of tension the film shied away from that. Pacing was way off, 30 minutes into a 94 minute film before we discover the "secret" led to a fairly rushed ending.
