Diablo2|PuF ??

Woohoo! Diablo 2 is out!
I dunno if this is a subject that has been brought up yet, but:

I figure a lot of PuF's are going to get and play Diablo 2... and just like with UT, play with each other. And, considering the rampant cheating that was in Diablo 1, the easiest way to avoid it is to simply play with people you know and trust.

So what I am proposing is PuF's create games that are uniformly titled, such as Diablo2|PuF, Diablo2[PuF], etc... there are 8 or so variations along this theme, and even at 4 players each game (which it isn't, i know) that would be 32 players. More than I have ever seen in #planetunreal. Any private games (when you just don't feel like dealing with people who stumble in) would be pw: planetunreal.

What do you guys think?
I imagine I'll be keeping the name Jing for diablo 2 (and maybe Saint|Jing if i play a paladin)... maybe even keep the PuF tag.

I never played Diablo. Actually, I never played any online game except UT and Nerf Arena.

Is there a demo so I can check it out before I start shelling out the cash?

If not I am prepared to buy it soley based on all y'alls excitement over it. :)

AWESOME idea :)

The thing that saved Diablo for me, was finding the Diablo Strat Forum on Bnet. The folks there are a lot like PuF, in that they're all legit players, they're honourable, and are good players. They love to help out newer folks, and never tire of ways to make the game replayable. PuF already has that vibe, and there would be nothing more awesome than hooking up with some PuFFers once I install the long awaited D2 on my computer. :)

I will be Troll|PuF of course. :) Haven't decided what to play yet tho.

well, supposedly, with D2, there is a different storage machination for your character so that you will not have access to its stats from ur home or work pc to hack into it like you could on the old version.

i bought it on friday but still haven't played it online...friggen connection still down...aaaaagh.

but even single player is pretty sweet.

it's not UT though...

I've picked up my copy of D2 and have already lost several hours of my life to it....flat out the game rocks.....I played Diablo but never played it online....I'd be interested in giving that a shot with Diablo 2....

WAnk...I played Diablo for a long time with a dialup connection. Ping's not a big deal with the game. Blizzard is notoriously great at taking time to make great games that run well on lower end systems and battle net is a HPB's dream.

Boom...there's the First Act Barbarian stress test, but that was for people who signed up. If ya like dungeon crawls with a bit of RPG and hack and slash, and journeying with other players to get gold and kill monsters and get kickass items, you'll love it ;)

Personally I've held off on buying it for one reason only: the minute I start to play it, I will enter a state wherein food and sleep are no longer priorities. :)

Bnets servers are utter CRAP but I am now the proud owner of Shadric, level 26 Necromancer. Only 2 more quests to go and I get to meet the big red bastard himself...

Diablo2 has 3 realms (servers).

US East
US West
Europe

These are used for closed characters. You will not be able to play with a west server if you're in the east realm. Cheating is not an issue (yet) for realm games as the servers save your char's, not your own computer.

These servers, however, have been down a lot. I've been playing on open Battle.net. This is where cheating can/will happen.

When logged onto battlenet, everyone should go to channel PuF. There we can all meet and join for games.

Create the game's name PuF, password planetunreal.

With the chat channel and game/password, we'll all be able to meet and conquer.
