Connor MacLeod: Wanna hear another theory?
Lieutenant Frank Moran: Uh-huh.
Connor MacLeod: This Fasil was so upset about the lousy wrestling tonight, that he went down to the garage and in a fit of depression cut off his *own* head!

"The place is all due to be redeveloped. He was the last resident left there. He lived there alone."

Not suspicious! They had him killed to make way for redevelopment. They know exactly why he was decapitated by a chainsaw. :)

Easy. You chainsaw through something, it gets stuck, and the sudden stop kicks it back out. It has momentum, but it's still running. BZZERT.

More than 10 years ago, there was a story supposed to be taking place in Poland.
It somehow found its way in the internet on the "darwin awards" website

But if i remember well some newspaper mentionning this, it was more likely a hoax.

Now in the case of the of 50 years old man found dead, i am amazed by the "nothing suspicious" conclusion.
That would have taken place in the end of a detective movie, even the most forgiving spectator would ask for a refund.

They did one of these on CSI once, and AFAIK they base their shows on real cases or things that are possible... and it had the very thing I mentioned, someone was murdering someone else with a chainsaw and it struck a bone and kicked back into his neck. They both ended up dead.

I am sure it is entirely possible. A sudden stop of the blade while it is running... the momentum has to go somewhere. So it goes back through the blade, dislodging it and firing it back in the other direction.

Hell, he could have done it on purpose if he were suicidal enough. A quick thrust into the neck and he'd be dead before he even hit the floor.

I think the only guy who can really answer this died on July 5th.

Off topic, I know, but whenever you describe CSI as being based on reality in any way I have to stop you. On CSI I've seen a murder get solved by the detective taking a point and click digital camera from a tourist who was taking a picture of a group of their friends, then zoom in on the EYE of one of the friends, in which they could clearly see the reflection of the murder happening. Right.

Then there was a CSI Miami in which a person attempted to murder a cuban immigrant, overhearing the beach he was going to land at, rushing out ahead of time and planting a SINGLE landmine, which the intended target actually stepped on. Right.

Back on topic: I'm sure it's entirely possible to accidentally cut off your head. One of my distant cousins cut off his foot with a chain saw. the concept of the decapitation not being suspicious, while amusing, is entirely plausible to me.

The cases, not the solving. The solving is stupid most of the time. :p

Sorry, I should have clarified that from the start.

Oh yeah and CSI Miami blows goats.
