Well, I decided that I fancied some easy mapping that didn't require me to think too heavily about what I was doing, and this is the result :) I always liked spacenoxx for a bit of fun in UT, so I decided to remake it for 2K4, with all custom meshes and some 'borrowed' textures that happen to work rather well ;)

Still working on it, but it's kinda on hold until I can get a replacement mouse (my 2 month old MX700 died on sunday :( ), as 3dmax is impossible without a mousewheel, so here it is in it's current form.

Download Spacenoxx_v5.zip (2.5mb)

And before anyone mentions it, I'll say that I am aware you can't dodge up the rear pillar to reach the wildcard charger, like you could in UT for the superkeg, it's an oversight and I apologize in advance  For screenies, see the attachments.

Enjoy :)

edit: forgot to mention that the mesh that is currently supporting the Udamage charger is temporary until I get round to doing it properly.

Wasn't there another version of this floating around.
Just checked my maps, yep, DM-FST-Spacenoxx can't remember where I got it.
No matter this one looks as sweet, if not more so.

BuF shall take over everything, bury the other version in ultra goodness!! Okay I'll stop.

SpaceNoxx was one of my favorite maps - and although I've seen a 2k4 version floating around, I dunno if it's yours....

I've had this one for some time now. Yours doesn't look quite as good. :hmm:

1: I don't care.
2: It's not finished.
3: Why do I bother posting here?

Honestly, I wonder what happened to this community to make it so damned apathetic

edit: thanks to those of you who actually like it.

I have to disagree. The skybox looks awesome, much better than fuegerstef's version. The rest of the level is somewhat a tie for me (which is very good...on both versions :) ).

I have some comments on this map, though (hope you don't mind):
-that small floating platform with the damage amp on it is kinda strange...even on a satellite high in the atmosphere ;) . I'd suggest to attach it to the higher ring somehow, or remove it entirely. Oh, and I saw a bot shield jumping toward it, while he could just used a double jump.
-the jump paths get the player way too high. At least lower it so he needs to double jump to reach the upper circle.
-can you change the elevator start and stop sounds? That beep doesn't sound natural. Also, the elevator beginposition could be lowered a small amount.
-the music doesn't match the theme...Not that this is important to me (I usually play without music); just giving my opinion here
-a bug: you can jump right through those pillars that hold the walls.

the rest looks good, btw

Thanks for the nice comments guys, guess I was just feeling a bit pi$$ed earlier, there seems to be a growing apathy and lack of interest for mods, mutators, even maps in the unreal community nowadays, it kinda gets you down after a while.

Personal replies:

Metakill - thanks bud, appreciate the kind words
KenjiE20 - thanks also, glad you like it :)
Han - Sorry pal, it's my secondary domain hosts being asshats as usual. The domain expires in October thankfully. I've uploaded the map to my main domain for you:

THUGLIFE - Thanks (though I didn't make it ;) ).

Of course I don't mind, I wouldn't be posting it if I did :)
Ok, damageamp platform is temporary, I should've made that clearer in my first post. It'll be removed when I get round to it. And bots shield jumping? I've specced bots hundreds of times on this map and never noticed that - they always double jump. Weird, I'll look into it though, and probably disable shield jumping for bots.
The jump pads are a bit dodgy, I agree, but that's simply because of the low grav. Lowgrav + jumppads in UT200x are fooked, they boost you way too high even with a low boost amount on the pad. I'm looking for a way to fix it at the moment.
Elevator mesh is temporary until I've created a custom one that will fit in with the surrounding area, and the sounds will be changed, don't worry :)
Music hasn't been set as yet, so I have no idea what it currently plays (I always play music off too).
Walking through the uprights.....? Ok, no you've really confused me  I know those meshes have correct collision set on them, including karma collision for ragdolls, so don't know why you might be experiencing this. Again, I'll look into it and see if there's something I've missed, though I don't think there is ;)

Again, thanks for the comments

Bots only start shield jumping at a certain level; I saw one do it at inhuman, if that can help.

Don't know if you're legally allowed to, but the original music (Foregone Destruction) would be the best to use, I guess. I still have UT99 installed, and can get it for you in .umx or .s3m format, if you want.

Wow, that's weird. I have no issues with that mesh in the slightest. I'll probably put some simplified blocking volumes round them anyway though, so either way the problem will be solved :)

I've got the music for the map too, so I'll convert it to .ogg and use it if you feel it would be appropriate (never been into game music really, with some minor exceptions like level8 and KRAtlantis).

Strange...Oh, I forgot to mention something: it does stops all bullets and rockets and stuff, just not myself (don't know about bots).
The music would certainly be appropriate; it helps to re-create the mood the original has (and that's the main reason why people would want to play the map, IMO).

Hmmm, you know there's a person out there that made a superb adaptation of DM-Morpheus for UT2003. But guess what ? Everyone ignored it because it hadn't been originally posted at Atari forums and there was a said official map on the way. People even critisized the map without having played it while some of those who actually tried it out found it to their liking (you could probably find the thread by doing a search).

Personally, I despise such an attitude. Live and let live is what I say. You do your thing so let other people do their thing. If I was to extend this statement to real life as it is now, I'd also add ...there's something quite wrong with looking at what other people have in their pants (if you know what I mean ;) ).

Here, I found that post about DM-Morpheus :

http://www.ataricommunity.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=294681

Here's the author's site :

http://unrealmapping.homestead.com/index.html

And here's some download links :

http://unrealmapping.homestead.com/files/Morpheus_beta.zip
http://users.skynet.be/fa220606/morpheus_beta.zip

I don't know if that map is compatible with UT2004 but, if it does work, just tell me honestly if it's a good map or not.

@ Radiosity, I'm not trying to hijack your thread or anything, I just want to prove a point : that third party adaptations can be good and there's no reason to shun them if there's already one out there.

I like the design of Radiosity's better personally. The other is too...I dunno...elaborate? Not very truly original.
