release
Forum regulars are very quick to jump on the backs of newbies who ask about release dates. This is usually fair as their comments are poorly worded and often *gasp* criticize the team.
However, their frustration is understandable. Most software companies have strict internal release schedules that are met (games are a bit of an exception). If products are late to market it can be the end of a company. For this reason companies are very rigorous about cutting down on what's known in the industry as 'feature creep'.
I do not know how long certain features have been planned. Infiltration appears to have the worst case of feature creep I have ever heard of (outside of the windows 94 fiasco),
The team doesn't have to answer to anyone. They're paychecks are not on the line and they have a mob of vigilant forum regulars to defend them in the face of any minor criticism.
That said, being a project developed in their spare time, it must be much harder to have an accurate release schedule.
The team is putting out a great product, but could use some work on the software engineering side of things.
I've been meaning to post something like this for quite some time. I hope the team will read it but doubt it due to the thread's title.
