I remember they used Locust models when they were showing of early UE3 so presumably these models are from a new IP.

The people in the comments of that article are idiots. They kept mentioning how "MSAA is useless," that "lol all UE3 games look the same," even "They're not going to be able to make a full game with this." Talk about missing the point entirely. It's not just the fact that the graphics are extremely pretty, it's that those graphics are being rendered in real-time. This tech demo puts pre-rendered FMVs to shame.
These guys whine about everythink. Don't care about ;)

More pictures.

It's not only the character model detail, but overall lightning and LOD quality was noticeably better on promo screens.

It says,"you'd need a beast of a computer to run what's seen here", you may find this is misplaced DX9 thinking.

No expert on this, but from what I've read, DX11 multithreading using all 8 threads of a core I7 to keep a Fermi card well fed (by use of command lists). This may well be able to produce graphics well beyond anything we've seen before, in a short time from now too. And without the old, 'heavy action' fps drops. It's great to see Epic going DX11.

I know DICE have said that without DX11 multithreading there is simply no way BF3 could even run as they want it to, not on the older DXs anyway. They're throwing everything at PC BF3; 64bit support, full feature DX11 support, it's even supporting 64 players online so they must be pretty confident ,based on the experiences of UT3's 64 player server attempts. The short gameplay demo going around does seem pretty impressive.

The only snag? There are no publicly available DX11 multthreaded drivers out yet , neither from Nvidia or Ati, but they do say they're coming .

The demo was running on a system with three graphics cards. That's fairly beastly.

Yes I read that too, and I think they mentioned they were the very beastly GTX580 x 3 :(

Maybe Nvidia still haven't got DX Multithreading sorted even for the developers?
Or maybe Epic aren't using that DX11 feature here?

Is rather have them pushing modern hardware to the max then have something that just drags its feet along.

Good interview From 2009! so it's about time. Reading this you kinda get the impression that far better visuals will be possible at much lower cost, simply because DX11 is so much better optimized and efficient. EA bosses are already boasting that BF3 is the best looking, best audio PC game ever, and by a long way.

Judging from the short pre alpha gameplay demo at 1080p http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QComYBWB8b0&feature=player_embedded they may be right.

DX11 is better optimised then previous versions, as all newer releases should be. That should allow is things like this. To still be able to use as much power but to do so much more, faster and better then before.

Ooo shiny.

Is it safe to assume the video files aren't included in the release? I'd love to stress my hardware to see how low the FPS is with this.
