Zxan, You have no proof that this make believe character of yours would have done anything great in his native country. What would made this person come out? I don't understand why you sit here and try to tell me that this doesn't have to do with what America brought to the table. You are still not giving any examples that show me that this kind of growth is possible without freedom of property. When in history as it ever happened when its not there. When. Give me an example. Anything. This doesn't have to do with great minds, this has to do with encouragement. Great minds exist everywhere, but they aren't going to come out and share their wisdom without some sort of profit. America provided it in spades and it shined because of it. Where is the hole in that?

I guess it's important to point out that most forerunners in various technologies either grew up in America or eventually moved there.

The US has always done what the rest of the world does?

A good idea is a good idea. We shouldn't let political dogma keep us in the dark ages.

yea, but then nobody would ever file bankruptcy and get a bad credit score, or something... because then they'd never be able to get a home loan... oh wait, nvm

The problems I was refering to were the problems with the current Bill, not the problems caused by lack of a intelligent healthcare system in this country.

The rest of the world disagreed with the us when it was founded and guess what the US shaped the modern world to what it is today. Without the us people would still be using hoes instead of tractors for farming. They would still be living with no electricity at all. The thousands of years of progress would have never happened. So what exactly is your point? That somehow societies that have been socialist since that time that has not added much if anything to world table ever somehow are right? Please.

Maybe you fail to realize, but the entire reason the us got where it got was is because we didn't do what the rest of world did. We formed a government for the people, where the government is in their hands, where people are free to invent with the freedom to gain from their work. The entire reason we are failing is because we got away from that.

The entire right to property is a huge part of that.

Get off my Socialist highways. Rip the mailbox off your house. Call the Police, Fire Department, Water Department, Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Gaurd, Deptartment of Homeland Security, FBI, CIA, NSA, FAA, FDA, Et al.... and tell 'em you no longer wish to partake of the socialist services they offer.

Having a privately run healthcare system is actually the opposite.

And political dogma? **** YOU. Try something called the constitution. Yeah that bothersome paper that FDR tried to get past by trying to pass a second bill of rights with the intent of passing universal healthcare because he knew it wasn't allowed.

I was unaware there was a mailbox on my house...let me just go outside...nope not there. OMFG, its down by the curb! WOW!

I find it hilarous you can't figure out the difference between this kind of socialism that you talk off and those you praise so highly.

I wonder if you even understand the right to your body. Half of those services you listed protect my life but doesn't touch that right. Universal healthcare is all about controlling that right and very little to do with keeping any of us alive. Regardless of what they say. Though the police pretty much suck dick all day and step on a ****load of rights, but its not by design so I guess that is a bit different.

The FAA, the mail, Department of Homeland Security I would be happy to not pay for as I don't much care for them. The FBI I would probably put on there to if they don't start to act like they even have clue what their job is. Obama is totally not helping there with getting them to look into global warming. No hidden agenda there, btw. Totally legit.

Regardless I hope you enjoy the idea of the government being able to control your bank account. All that stuff in the bill should be fun for our rights. Obama is the best president ever. Hahahahaha

It's all about money and power. However complicated it all seems, that is the bottom line.

Politics = money + power + opportunity = Corruption 100% of the time at some level. Which means they are all guilty at some level. Some more than others, some much much more. Both parties are at fault, every last one of the most vocal players in both parties are likley the worse offenders.

Here is a question what is a free society?

Is it a "government ownership or control of all the means of production( farms, factories, mines, and natural resources) and all means of distribution( transportation, communications, and the instruments, and the instruments of commerce)

or is it

Is it a people ownership and control of all the means of production( farms, factories, mines, and natural resources) and all means of distribution( transportation, communications, and the instruments, and the instruments of commerce)

Well?

Well, the first one is fascism and the second communism. Pure communism or theoretical communism is a great idea in theory, but to put it into place in our modern society it needs a government so that's where it fails. A free society is what we strive for, but it never truly happens. All of us have to pay for something in one way or another. Now if you're talking about "free" in the sense of freedom to express our beliefs, then that's another story.

Good morning to everyone! Hope your day is going well.

Which means they came from another country.
Einstein, Von Braun... anyone?
What is the whole purpose of pointing this out? To me it's sounds like certain people want to communicate here that Americans are somewhat smarter or better than others, when in fact they are not. They aren't worse then anyone else, but they are for sure not better. Let's just say they created an environment that attracts the bright ones from all over the world, which in turn contributes to the advancement in technology and so on.

Oh your mailbox is on the street. Wow you really tore me a new one with that revelation. Boy is my face red!

You didn't care about the Constitution when Bush and his gang of criminals were butt raping it. Your concern about it now is disingenuous at best.

Only in your mind is a real Universal Healthcare Insurance System about controlling your body.

I don't support the current Healthcare bill. It's nothing more than a big fat gift to the Insurance & Drug companies. But really, we need not worry our pretty little heads about it. It's never going to pass.

Do you even know what the FAA does? And if you do, what do you suggest as an alternative?

The question you should all be asking yourselves at this point is: "why are some so intent on disproving America's greatness?"

The fact of the matter is that the USA has the largest and most powerful economy in the world, and is directly responsible for some of the most important innovations of our time. These are undeniable facts. It doesn't matter if Europe would have found them without the US. The point is that they didn't. The US always seems to beat them to it, or the talent ends up coming here anyways.

However, far more to the point. We are not Europe, and we have no interest in being Europe. If we did, we would move there. In fact things are quite the opposite. Millions of people have moved from Europe to the US because they like the way things are here. The fact that many other industrialized nations have healthcare means nothing. It doesn't mean that it's the best way to do things, and it doesn't mean that such a system will work for the USA.

Oh, TWD you are making me chuckle.
Reminds me on Hacksaw Jim Duggan shouting "USA, USA!" But I understand, you guys are being brought up that way...

America and the American people have done remarkable and great things. Yes, we know that. But others have done remarkable things too. Don't think you are any better than your fellow human beings.
