You are doing it again?

Except with lightmass wannabe lighting this time. Looks great. At first glace I thought you were remaking one of those Unreal Championship 2 map from the first screen.

Can I suggest making that title floor darker?

The thing is that I've been asked several times to make a PS3 cook, cause the original version needed some fixes for the ps3, and when I opened it I said "this is just wrong" so I kinda redid some stuff. I started this sunday morning and worked a couple hours. Biggest change so far Substractive -> Additive

So your walls are in fact paper thin, or they could be? What do you do, you add a brush for each piece of the cylinder, or can you do it all at once? Yeah, big noob :p

Yes, for my Gears of War mod.
Oddly enough, this is approximately after 7 hours of work.

I wish I could get that sense/logic from mapping in UT3. I just can't. :(
I highly suppose it's all because of the cover system, and how I'm mind stuck with ELITE layouts.

Looks good for starters. I honestly can't map for GoW anymore. I love the game but damn that editor crashes more than cars set for impact crash tests... if it was more stable I would continue with SP and MP maps.

The lighting is only temporary, because I noticed while in play that it isn't very contrasted and "lighty." For that I'll try to take some pointers from Ignotium because I like his "Lightmass wanna be" effect :p
Apart from that, you may remember this map.

That's right! It's DKNightOp from Unreal 1 (Aka the first Darkmatch map EVAR!) :p
The point is that you can't see ****. And I haven't shown the fog room yet. :D

somewhat inspired by VCTF-HangingGardens I've decided to be more architectural and do something more out of my comfort zone.

Something very quick in goggle sketch-up and then Kerkythea

Cool man. I look forward in seeing where to you take this.:)

I hope there becomes more of an interest in folks making some more non-UT3-ish maps. While I don't think it is the case with alot of the community maps, some of the stock maps are downright depressing not to mention very colorless. The community maps seem to have more color and life even if they are built with a UT3-like layout. Maybe it is nosaltia talking but weren't UT2004 maps (even the stock ones) a bit more full of life? Regardless, it'll be cool getting some more diversity.

Good luck.:)

Well ... there IS abit of that in there too :p

I want to go for that kind of evil inc style ... I like some of the art style in Dollhouse and Portal. Modern sudo medial facility - Rich textures of wood or metal mixed with hard cast concrete. The “hey this is really nice, clean, spacious, nice materials, blood splatters, gore etc”

Like the ultor labs in the first red faction :D

Also, I vaguely intend to develop this much like an active building design ... a technique I've not employed yet ...

ut2004 maps were more full of color but it tended to be ether grey or bright where UT3 tends to be ether grey or dull where it has the potential seen in the ball mod to go from grey to bright and all inbetween on the same map.

I wish they would bring back dark corners and nice under the stairs dark spots and real bright lights in hallways then dull grey then dark and light spots all in one map. The engine has potential for so much.
