What's easier to use UnrealEd 1 or 2 ?

What is easier? I keep getting messed up with UnEd 2.0 and my version # is 4.20. I know there is a newwer version but what the heck is easier to use /infopop/emoticons/icon_confused.gif . I heard there is a file you can get for UnEd 1 gets rid of the "unregistered or missing file" thing, so please help.

UED 2.0 all the way.

It's got them nifty floating windows when you hover your mouse cursor over the icons telling you what the hell the thing is first.

There's a lot of new features with the latest version, plus there is configurable windows, to let you set them anyway you want.

Clipping tools are great also.

If you know UED1.0 well enough, 2.0 is not really that difficult to figure out.

Perhaps you can check out a tutorial site (I think there's one over at Unrealism on UED 2.0 basics)

there are things about ued 1.0 that are better then ued 2.0 and vice versa you just have to use both till you decide which you like better depending on how you go about creating your maps

I've been using 2.0 since before 4.20 was made public (back when I worked on SF we got that stuff a little earlier then everyone else and Mike complained about NO Epic support ;P) and I got pretty use to it BUT I switched back to 1.0 just recently after a clean reinstall to clear up some other problems and well for me there is just no going back no matter the trade-offs

I can't see why anyone would want to stick with UED 1, when it's not going to get updated, or patched, whereas UED 2 is being improved on all the time, and is an on-going project. Check out the Unreal Technology page at: http://unreal.epicgames.com/ for example.
Of course there's the saying, 'if it aint broke don't fix it', but you can hardly say that about UED 1, it's always been 'broke' from the off, and what software program can say, that it can't be improved upon?
Just my 2p worth.

I have been using ued(2) since I updated to 4.28.

I like it alot so far I need to work out these NEW clipping things I keep on puttin in by mistake...

Things I don't like are the missing ability to do math within the object dimensions, ie (128-32) or (512+128), late at night when your brain is failing it was very useful not to have to think.

Also the build times seem to take forever... but hey my levels are large normally 3-5mb without internal MyLevel images...

But then again... (touch wood & whisle, an English good luck thing) even if the build times are longer I haven't had that many crashes yet..

Hey Bastard'O

you can do the math with the 4.28 patch. In the dimension, just put =512+128 then tab. It updates with the result, then you press Build.

UED2 build times

Why would the build time take longer in UED2 than UED1? Isn't UED2 written in much-faster C++, compared to UED1's VB? I'm confused. It's an issue for me, because I'm using a putt-putt-putt-speed 200MHz P1, and on UED2 it's taking me 8 friggin' minutes to rebuild a mere 1 MB map! Any hope of them speeding it up?
