The new Nordic Infiltration standoff server is now up and running. We will test configs to get the best possible game so suggestions are welcome.

Bots to keep minimum of two players, they are experienced so you should have some resistance when waiting for another player.

1 Life. If the telefragg bug is to much of a problem will I increase it to two. I will also check if the mutator I saw some post about could solve the problem.

Server is running on a 800 Mhz Athlon with 128 MB(soon 256) with an E1 for Internet connection.

Europeans should have a really good ping but I hope americanos get a decent ping as well since we have good capacity to the other side

I would try to stick with a map rotation that fits your player limit. For instance, pstation has tons too few player starts for 16 people. So you should accomodate and have maps that work well with a good number of people.

That way you dont get these ppl ---> /infopop/emoticons/icon_mad.gif

Tested your server and... wow... got the best PING ever since I've started playing INF online. Thanx a lot. Just one suggestion: Waiting for other players with only one bot is a bit boring, even if the bot is doing a good performance. Could you add some more, like filling up to a minimum of six players? Would be great then.

MiscMan, I tought about that when choosing maps. I wanted to test maps of different sizes and I calculated that we shouldn't get so many players from start so too many on a small map wouldn't be a problem. Right now it's to few on a large map..

I will change the rotation when we get more players.

BTW I tested P-station with me and 15 bots, it was intense /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif . I use the spawnguard mutator to protect against the telefrag bug. I don't know if bots are included in the bug but I only got one telefrag (a bot) in 15 min and 16 player(15 bots) on P-station.

Nightpaw, I agree it's boring with only one bot so I raised it to a minimum of 4 players just for you /infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif .

I had 4 before but went down to 2 after spending 2-3 minuts watching stupid bots play, thats even more boring than playing against 1 bot. /infopop/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

I was chatting online the other night with someone from Clan Merlin. Are all Merlin Members from Europe? I think its pretty bad ass that we could play on the same server without that Huge of a ping difference. I wasn't paying attention to the server name at the time, but if it was the Nordic Server then my Ping was not bad at all. I'm Out of Sunny Florida, USA. I'll definately pay attention tonight when I go server hopping to check Nordic Out...

All Merlins aren't from Europe, we got Jus10 from the states, Tulsa I believe?

I talked with one guy from the state New York and he had a ping of 150 on the Nordic server so I guess you could have good ping too.

We us a T3 from UUNet so we should have a good connection over to USA /infopop/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
