Karma, I'm a fan of your maps, I think your a very talented guy. I just read the post on your site about the Star Wars issue, and I am appalled. I too am a fan of the Star Wars series, and have been for a long time. I played TIE Hanger quite a while back and loved it, then Cantina, AT-AT Barge etc. It was fantastic to play my favourite game around some great looking Star Wars locations.

You have my deepest sympathy for the cruelty that is known as 'Lucas Arts'. Their games generally suck, and are only made playable because they're Star Wars. If it was something else people wouldn't use them for toilet paper.

I personally tried to get my own mod started a long time ago, and I was going to make it a Star Wars conversion for UT. I can't begin to imagine if I had gotten it out of concept stages, and actually had a version together, when I got a letter from Lucas Arts saying 'cut it out'. It appears George Lucas has a bit of 'Monopoly syndrome' that Airline companies, phone companies, internet companies and software companies often get.

Don't let it get you down. Continue to make the great maps you have, just give them a different theme. Hooraah for Infiltration!!

Fancy that. Just the other day I was thinking to myself how Lucasarts has gone the way of shameless franchise commercialism.


I think the last GOOD star wars game was X-Wing Alliance, but flying the Millenium Falcon in the last campaign was absolute sacrilege on return of the jedi.

After putting together that overhyped pile of sh<B></B>it called "Episode One" I was close to writing off Lucas and Star Wars.

After this...screw them. I'm not going to see Episode Two or Three (unless I find a bootleg videotape of it..but I certainly will not PAY to see it, not even as a rental).

Star Trek is better anyway :p

While I think that LucasArts is wrong for what they did, I still love the series..hell, I grew up on this stuff (I was 7 when the first Star Wars came out). I thought Episode 1 was..different. Not worse, just different. In any event, copyright laws are copyright laws I guess. I should've downloaded that 'mod' when I had the chance. My sympathies to all involved in it's making.

But god damn, i got a warez version of a game made for the Episode one.

What a pile of lame ass **** house crap.
LucasArts have done better in there time. Like Tie Fighter was good for its day.

I never noticed they havent had a new star wars game for a while. I didnt think of that.

here's one for you. maybe bardkarma could try to get revenge. there's a number of converted ut maps for jediknight. not to mention a mod that's unreal jediknight. i'm sure you can guess what that's about. i don't know what epic's policy is on that thought.

i guess it goes along with i remember poly count getting something from id saying they have to remove anything that was a converted quake model like the visor one.

personally i think they're doing the wrong thing. it's not like he made a complete knock off mod of jedi knight or dark forces. i would have thought his maps would have generated good publicity for star wars.

next thing you know when they release episode 2 and all the fans show up dressed as starwars characters they'll have lawyers there passing out seis and disist orders.

anyways...I'm a regular at www.unrealcenter.com and if u go there u will see not only various screenshots and news articles oin the archives about this amazing mod but alos that a petition has been started which will be sent to LucasArts in the hope they will withdraw th C&D order.

IMHO, The first made starwars movies were superb in that they were made as MOVIES, as most are. Episode 1 had everything needed to satisfy the largest market and make the company more money. The largest market being kids, here is what it had:
1. Special Effects: Kids never get tired of in-your-face special effects in movies.
2. A young hero: No matter how cheesy a movie is, if the main character is a kid, the kids will love it.
3. An easy to follow storyline: Most of us loved the original movies, because there was a good plot. We're supposed to like this one because it has <b><u>A</b></u> plot'
4. MERCHANDISING: Everything in this movie was for easy merchandising. Comic character Jar Jar Binks was a favourite of the kids, and while Chewbakka and the E-Woks could be considered the same, they were there for the story, not simply because the kids would buy them.


This movie had everything it needed for hype and money. Thats where it stands, in my eyes.

The only time I ever liked SW was when I was really little. Now it's the epitome of corny, Ep1 backs me up on this completely. I, of course, signed the petition a week or so ago. F<b></b>uckin greedy assholes. :mad:
