DVD Drive and BSOD

I have a DVD drive that never really worked as it was supposed to. It will play movies and other disc media, but if I ever needed to right click on the device from the "My Computer" window, I would immediately get the dreaded "blue screen of death". A list of what I guess are errors are listed briefly, then the computer reboots itself. This sometimes happens also when I open the drive tray as well.....but that is rare. It always occurs when I right click on the drive's icon.

Any ideas?
