you should leave your Device Adapter at its default settings, and really, your phone should remain at its default settings, if your phone has IR, then there is a piece of software out there designed specifically for your phone, download that and you should be good to go.
I'm almost posotive that Sony makes a sync program that is kind of like a suite, you select your phone from maybe a drop down list and it configures it for you, I don't have any Sony phones though so I can't even check.
they key to infrared is that you have to keep the device and the reciever like, right next to each other, and I mean right next to each other, whenever I transfer pics from my brother's phone they device and the adapter have to be practically touching.
the real thing to understand here is, Why did you pay that much money for a phone that has Bluetooth, but you're using IRDa? if given the choice of taking the phone apart, and manually extracting the files and then importing them into my computer, or using IRDa I would pick self extraction every time.
Switch to bluetooth dude, no configuring, you can use it up to ten feet away, you don't have to aim your device you don't need any third party software and it only costs like 25 beans for an adapter.
