Well I just got back from the range for the first time with my Steyr M-40.

Overall I'm pleased. This is the first .40s&w I'd fired, and frankly I expected less recoil. Clearly more recoil then a 9mm...I felt like I was firing .45acp.

I fired 50 rounds of PMC 165gr. FMJ/FP, then 50 rounds of American Eagle 165gr. ball, then for grins I bought a 20round box of CorBon 135gr High Velocity JHP :) I expected less recoil from the 135gr but boy was I wrong  I saved 10 rounds of that so I'd have some self defense ammo (a gun with no bullets ain't much of a defense weapon :p ).

All rounds fired well, and I had zero DNF or any kind of jam :D

The sights aquire quite quickly, and after the first magazine load I didn't even notice they where different.

My first mag load was actualy my best :p so I posted it here.

Not bad Zundah. I'm assuming you fired as quickly as possible?

So those triangle sights work and are comfortable eh... I never considered that type of sighting. Alas, the only weapon I own is a .22 bolt action rifle (unregistered, BUAHAHA) in my basement, with five boxes of ammunition. :p

Those where fired at about 3/4 second intervals (well the first two shots where a double tap...they are the ones on the bottom and the right)

As a member of the bourgeoisie, I don't mind protecting myself :p

Well Rogue, I like yacking with you online, but if it comes down to it I'll hit you with a double tap to center mass without a second thought ;) or based on my shooting today, I'll shoot you in the stomach and the wrist without a second thought :p

    HAHAHA!

Zund, I heard somewhere that a successful double tap requires a certain positioning of the hand. Try asking the range master about it, if there is one. :)

I'd upload my target that I shot using my sig 239 .40 s&w but its too big to scan and I don't have the camera here. Its like zundy's but with not quite as tight grouping and its all to the upper left (up because of the recoil and left because I think the sites were off a tad.

Kidding, nice shooting. But I still dont like the look of those sights. I'll stick with my Hardballer for now :)

Tell you what Zundy, if I ever have to kill you in the course of the revolution, we'll have a good old fashioned dual. We will use .50 cal rifles with dum dum rounds for added entertainment to the victor.

At 20 paces i don't think accuracy matters much. But dum dum rounds DO exit the body in a strange way causing a huge gaping hole that explodes with blood and flesh out the exit wound.

    wait..

a dum dum round is a standard bullet with a cross marred on the tip with some sharp tool, right? (knife screwdriver ect)

Yes. You blunt the end of the bullet so that it isn't aerodynamic. Because of that is spins oddly and when it enters the body, instead of just going straight out, it wobbles through the body.
