quote:
The way scoring is handled in Infiltration is simple. One point is awarded for every kill. Games are won by those who win the majority of the rounds.[/quote]

I have known since day one of playing Inf, that it would be assimilated by all the a--holes out there. Right now, I can only think of one other mod that reminds me of Inf. That mod being for a completely different game and set in WW2. Not too many people play this mod now because it isn't well known in the communities but, Inf is much better known by many gamers. I feel, that the only reason Inf hasn't gotten much of the a--holes yet is because the lack of online play (which, hopefully, will be fixed later tonight or tomorrow :D ). As soon as this new release is out...I would think that A LOT of people (ahem, a--holes) will download it because of the new online code.

well the easy way to promote teamplay and basically kill the stupid frag-hunting behaviour is to NOT give points for kills, but WHY WHY WHY do they have to keep doing that BS.

We could e-mail each other a password, and then open up a password game, where no bunny hopping frag idiots can get in.

Well, This password would be e-mailed out by a different guy that is selected every night, and he just makes it up, but I'm not a good server, sooo.....

What is wrong with my name? :D PiLe-O-gIbS is just my name in all the forums im signed up for. In games, I am usually Dead-Meat but sometimes I am PiLe-O-gIbS in games like Quake 3 and Unreal Tournament because they have wonderfully gooey, bouncy, gibalicious gibs.

Dynamic game types.

This can all be solved with dynamic game types dictated by the server.

But they can learn a lot from console makers:
Do not dilute your core audience

in escence, INF should be for realism seekers.
if you make it expandable, let it expand toward
the "casual" gamer, but keep your escence.

like, dont sell out.
(thats not going to keep me from playing tho :)

How are you gentlemen!!

Im with you Fur, im really disapointed about the teams decision to change the scoring system. Now everyone's going to be after the most kills and be on their own crusades.

I think it was one of things that kept INF apart from the deathmatch style of all the other mods, and as you said it will detract from the teamplay, encouraging more of a fragging game. :(

I enjoy being able to look at the scoreboard and have a larger frag count than other people, and I also enjoy working with people as a team. Whenever I play cs with my roomies on a pub server, we do play with teamwork, and we totally rule the servers because of it. It is certainly possible to have both exist. And, if everybody else on the server is just running and gunning to get the most frags, they ought to be an easy kill. I liked the old scoring system, but I don't think the change is that big of a deal, nor will affect gameplay any at all.

How the hell do you win a game if you don't count kills? Yes, you have to kill the whole other team to get kills, but, with a best-out-of round system, how would you know who won? Count the kills. I find that every game that involves killing people counts the kills. You tell me one that doesn't, and I'll be pretty f*cking amazed. And if you don't like the way the Inf team handles things- make your own damn mod. I doubt the scoring system will affect anything, what will affect the most of your gameplay is the actual server you play on. I have no doubt there will be servers with the absolute minimum of reality on it, and there will be servers with all out reality. So chill out about the score system, its not the end of all that is Inf, its a better way to work things. (As anyone who has followed many of my posts, you know I am an avid Rogue Spear fan and player. After every online round, there is a list showing how many kills you have for that round and who you got. I find it incredibly good for bragging rights and morale of your team. RS has an option to change your name in a multi-player server without actually having to leave the server, and just for fun after each round, I put and accumulating number of kills after my name. Ex: Hit-Sqd_Target *246*. I love to see how people react when I take out their whole team and my score changes to *254*. They ask how long it took me to get such a kill count, and I say... ohhm about 6 hours total. Yes, they do become scared of me, and yes, my team wins more because of it.) End of rant.

You know, I consider one of the greatest features of Goldeneye to be the end-game stat reporting. Sure, maybe I didn't score so many kills, but it was still damn satisfying to end the game with a 98% accuracy rating with the weapon of choice being DD44 Dostovei (that gun ruled!) whilst everyone else was using the KKV7.

I can remember always getting the AC -10 and Most Dishonorable awards in that game....so I was an armor whore who would shoot you in the back, so what?

I always prefered hiding individual scores in team games.
I already get in a bad mood when I just hear "bragging rights".
