I will soon be adding a new feature to our beloved WoD.
Something long needed.
A WEAPONS HALL OF FAME!
here's the current docs/specs.
Look them over and tell me what you think:
WoD Weapons Hall Of Fame
First Drafted: 18 July 2001
The purpose of the WoD Weapons Hall of Fame (HoF) is to recognize outstanding single weapons (they may be part of a larger mod). These are weapons that can be considered impressive feats of coding, original, or that just downright rock. To be entered into the HoF, a weapon must go through the nomination and voting processes described below:
Nomination:
1. To be nominated, a thorough explanation (nomination request) of why the weapon deserves recognition should be sent to a designated e-mail address. Upon receiving the nomination request a selected panel of VIP judges (Judges Panel) will evaluate the request and determine if the weapon is worthy of nomination. If approved, the weapon will be entered into the public election.
2. A weapon may not be nominated by its author(s).
3. Once a weapon has received nomination and been entered into the public election, it will not be eligible for nomination again for another 4 weeks.
Election:
1. The election will consist of 3 parts. The public individual merit rating, the public comparative vote and the private Judges Panel vote. To vote in either public election, you must be a registered PU former.
a. Individual Merit Rating (IMR): in the IMR, voters will rate each nominated weapon on a scale of 1-10 in a poll held on the WoD forums based upon their belief weapons merit independent of the other weapons running for nomination.
b. Comparative Vote (CV): in the CV, voters will choose which one weapon they believe to be the more HoF worthy than the others nominated that week in a poll on the WoD forum.
c. Judges Panel Vote: details yet to be determined. If a judge’s weapon is in contention, he/she will not be allowed to vote for that weapon.
2. An election Period will last 5 days. Then there will be 2 days allowed for the tallying of scores and preparation for the next week’s election.
Winning:
1. To win, a weapon must obtain a certain minimum IMR, a certain percentage of the CV and win the Judges panel vote. The exact details of winning are still sketchy.
2. The winning weapon will receive entry into the HoF which includes (but is not limited to) a short article on the weapon, permanently viewable on WoD in the HoF, a brief interview with the author to accompany the article and a customized (named & numbered) HoF member logo for the authors web page.
Judges Panel:
1. The Judges Panel will consist of a variety of somewhat known members of the UT community. They will be handpicked by Kangus (or the current head of the HoF), though suggestions are always welcome.
