Why doesn't UT like my sound files?

Hi there!
While testing my mod (Rockets UT) I found UT crashing several times after importing sounds from other games (Descent 2/3, Q3A). This does not always happen and not with all sound, and especially not after I edited those sound files.
Why doesn't UT like sound files from other games?

They are all in PCM 16/8bit mono with sampling rates of 11 or 22kHz, but I don't think thats the problem.
I tested them in the sound browser of UEd and one of them caused a very strange reaction: after the sound was finished another sound started to play and then UEd crashed.:con: I heard that UT reads out the wave header to determine whether the sound should be looped or not.
Does the wave header contain other information UT could possibly use (the wrong way)?

you got me on that one.
try opening the wav in sound forge, cool edit or similar. Most sound editing programs can veiw extra information saved in wavs.
THe only other thing I can think that would be in a wav header is misc text information (date, ©, stuff).
Saving it as a new file with MS Soundrec might remove the original attributes of the file.
