  • Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. It is highly recommended that you configure this to keep your account safe.

Hiyas people, been a while ... a long while at that.

I recently decided to fire up inf again with the new weapons and all. Man you guys did an amazing job!!!

Anyways I tried to connect to a server or so but the result is invariably the same ... I get disconnected halfway through the downloads ...

So what does it take to play online these days?

Also I tried to get the community mappack working but no luck ...

So I have decided to start from a clean ut. What are your recipies for a good install?

Oh yeah I was forgetting I'm using linux.

TIA and hope to be providing an easy target for the lot of you asap.

the edit is due to the fact I still havn't learned to spell or type!

Reccommended from me (don't take this as final since I don't actually play inf on Linux):
UT 436 (www.lokigames.com)
UTPG patch 451 (www.utpg.org) - includes a decent OpenGL renderer IIRC
Inf 2.9 with mappack and DS mappack
Inf 2.9 Bonus pack
RealMaps full 2.9 mappack (realmaps.beyondunreal.com)
Inf Mod Team - Weapon Pack 1 (www.clanterritory.com/mods/infmodteam)
ComVoices (threads around here somewhere...)

Also, I'd suggest the GD Mutie pack included in Odie's signature. There will be some redundancies I think, but they're all the same version anyway.

Cool! Cheers people, I'll just wipe out that 3 gig UT mess and start afresh then. :D
Oooops I meant that I couldn't get the mod team weapon pack to work ... doh!

Ok lessee if a fresh install solves things.

Hope to be exchanging led on the servers soon!

I was wondering weather it would make sense to create a great installer from hell file and update it once a month or so.

I was thinking of 2 files realy one with inf and everything and one with just everything without inf.

This would permit people to install and join the servers without having to serch for extra mods and mappacks. Also it would allow for faster installs for those who play regularly and have to reinstall from scratch for whatever reasons (BSODs and such).

Just a thought.

The one with Inf and everything would be freaking huge, and I don't think there's many who have the kind of bandwidth available to distribute such a file. There's already the RealMaps mappack which has all the maps you should ever need, and there's the GD mutator/camo pack which is pretty comprehensive and kept well up to date.

Yes, just get the mutator pack from my Sig. It does not include Maps or Official SS Releases, i.e. Inf 2.9 Bonus Pack. But it does include the INF MOD Team weapons. Since I am packaging up other coders work, all the readme's are in the pack too.

The pack is also configured to be dropped into your UT Install Directory, i.e., has the proper directories with the files in the correct place.

Lastly, I try my best to keep it current. If you find something out of date or in the incorrect place - let me know!

WB and See you online!

EDIT:
Do not forget about TeamSpeak. The TS Server information is in my Link! If you have TS installed, just click the hyper link in my Sig and you will be connected as a Guest!

Yeah well I guess the enormous installer from hell would comes down to be 715 megs, which is a bit much.

Maybe a one click updater or something at 345 megs would be more reasonable ...

Thanks for the welcome and the GD mutie package!

You are my heroes, all the sownloaded archives had proper directory structures in them!

Hmmm teamspeak ... hmmm I seam to recall compileing something like that on my system .... hmmmm ... I'll give it a try thanks again.

Ok I'm new to the Teamspeak thing (never used it). I managed to connect to the GD server (using the guest user in the signature). I guess I'll have to get myself a mike to test this out.

The Linux version is terrible it hangs on shutdown.

Yep you's right I just downloaded a new version and it's just binaries with a *yuck!* windowslike installer.
