lol. To coin a phrase, “when I was a kid,” they were stores that sold items for 5 cents and 10 cents. Sort of like the 99 cent stores they have now where everything costs 99 cents. The problem with the concept was lack of vision. As costs go up, so do prices and you can’t stay in business selling things for 5 and 10 cents.

The town I grew up in had a five & dime. While you could still buy quite a few things for that price, many items were more.
