What would you like to see in a new map ?

    For you dwindling (?) inf players out there.

    I'm already finding out about poss movers (in my other thread).

    But what would you like to see in a new map ?

    Highly tactical labyrinthine kind of stuff ?

    A numbskull 'chokepoint' map where it all comes down to one tactical
    point ?

    Something that has'nt been tried? ..... soldiers trying to secure a UFO crash
    site (well...this is actually supposed to have happened!) with some kind
    of alien mind control effect going on...although that might entail unrealscript
    ...but you know...something really different ?

    i'd personally like to see real world maps which look exactly like the real place, i guess there's just Jerusalem by now. If you can think of somewhere like that, which can be seen often on tv, and if you can find it use Google Earth for precise positioning

    I was actually thinking of the White House !

    The US President has become corrupt and factions within the US Military
    are sent in....that coup'de'tat kind of thing. The corruption extends to the
    President having his own secret private army that he told no one about
    (the opposing side).

    How this would fit in with the standard INF teams, I don't know, but I think
    new ones can be created, of course. I don't know if these can be loaded
    automatically by a map....the story could always be adjusted appropriately
    (that's the good thing about a back story...he...he..).

    - Large
    - Reaslistic
    - Technical and complex, yet fun at the same time.

    -DTAS friendly (EAS)
    -Many ways to reach defenders (complex?): sewers, tunnels, etc (EAS-ACB like)
    -Of course realistic :)

    Yes a sewers map, tunnels, some open areas forest/swamp -ish.
    not all pitch black but dark overall. But then again some parts normal bright.
    some tunnels are wide, very wide, others small, some parts tight.
    Some are windy, others silent.
    no stairs!
    not water everywhere ( to prevent that sloshing sound continuously)
    and put some fog in there. and make it look realistic

    DTAS ofcourse.

    Check out the 'sewers' in that vitzena map. Ehm no not vitzena, ehm.. damn what is it called again.. Anyway, those are nice for brighter areas.

    I think I'm getting a picture.

    But define what you mean by 'random elements'.

    I'm afraid it's going to be rather simple as I'm not an experienced
    mapper but have to start somewhere.

    Simple can be very effective though.

    The Whitehouse could be rather complex if I'm gong to reproduce the
    interior decoration...mmmmm.

    And can you see the headlines..."Terrorist training map of Whitehouse" ?

    Zeep...mmmm...tunnels...I'll check out the map.

    I intend to have a controllable mover in there....a helicopter that you
    can actually fly around in...it would have a predetermined path, but could
    maybe have a gun on it for air cover.

    Anyway...simple...simple...simple...the tendency to get lost in grand designs
    is a danger...it'll be interesting to see what comes out the other end of this.

    Check Iraq out for basic map random feature and mostar for random spawns/objectives

    You could make it a disarm the bomb type situation, and it just so happened your unit was nearby when the alarm went off.

    So much for my Story line.

    Plot: Terrorists (attackers) have to plant a useless low-yield bomb in some rediculous location. Counter-Terrorists (Defender) must defuse the useless bomb. The bomb site location must of course be marked by rediculous X mark left there by some very sloppy terrorist planning group. Since all Terrorists are idiots, how else would they find their target to bomb with their low-yield firecracker.

    Things to blow up:
    - Nothing
    - Crates
    - Thin Air
    - The groundâ„¢
    - A road to nowhere
    - Some computer that has all its data backuped elsewhere anyway

    ps: Whatever map you make, put Freon's random deco generator in there. Examples are in that thread too.

    for the map design explained by geogob you should reduce gravity and make a mutator to disable freeaim and add a green crosshair. you could also get some hostages from those programmed for TacOps and place a point where you must take those hostages to free them and earn some money for some further full auto action

    PS: dont listen to us when it's not to help you, it's your map, get started, have fun mapping, and dont let the UED goblin do to you what it did to me
