What would you fix about XMP?

  • Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. It is highly recommended that you configure this to keep your account safe.

What about U2XMP needs fixing? Atardi! get them to bring the MS up...in the mean time make a "secret" patch and fix all the bugs.

Jackal, as Ho said, how about fixing any one of the four phucking MASTER SERVERS? Both master1.u2xmp.com and master2.u2xmp.com are ping-able, meaning they potentially just need a reboot. Ideally the master server code would be fixed so it doesn't crash anymore, but scheduling these two master servers to auto-reboot (or auto-restart the necessary services) every hour or so would be just fine.

Is that something within your control now? Or, are you working on another laggy mutator like se7en's XMPSecure1a? :( If you're going to do a mutator, you need to fix the u2xmp net code first. Why else do you think nobody runs many (if any) mutators?

UPDATE: I don't think Atari/Epic owns any of the master server domain names anymore. Try going to them in your web browser... Therefore, we need the following:
1) Binaries for running our own public master server. Someone from the old Legend group could probably leak this anonymously.
2) Ownership of one of the four master server domain names (preferably master1.u2xmp.com).
3) Someone to run and maintain a public master server at the above domain name.

definitely fix the netcode
also, a patch to fix the hacking/exploiting would be nice, altough some of those "exploits" such as the togglebehind view, and some of the buggy walls( alcazar, drop from bridge to ground) are too much a part of the game now to be changed.
any way to make it a little "lighter" on the user? i have a 6800gt and i run it on detail 3 just to get decent fps :( ...

Info on master server names:
www.u2xmp.com has been bought by some illegal drug-peddling scheme and we will most likely never get it back.
www.legendent.com (which includes master servers 3 and 4) still belongs to Legend Entertainment: click here to see it (not sure if that link times out or not btw).
So we could in theory ask one of the LE guys to sell us the domain, and then we can launch at least one MS on that domain with no .ini editing required for users.

1.) Netcode & master servers, 'nuff said...

2.) Find a proper balance of capturing both artifacts and generators for the game. No serious, too many people don't bother with getting their team energy high first and wonder why they can't cap an arti... :rolleyes:

3.) Put a limit of how many deployables a tech can have. They're actually used as annoyance weapons when the techs are being chased and a major unneeded drain on team energy. Just place them around the base as they're intended... ;)

4.) Spawn camping... Ok, so you think you're cute placing a big ring of deployables & force fields around the other team's base deploy point and especially with tank camping. Try that in any other game and have the whole server turn against you.


These are just my suggestions for improving XMP (both U2 and the UTXMP version.)

2)it's called noobs.. that cant be fixed by some or whatever code.. try and live with it, and kill em ;)
3)noobs again, killing deployables is easy points tho, and the ppl who are putting them down (noobs) are easy points too ;)
4)guess what? Noobs!... just spawn as gunner and spam a few rockets and there should be sumthing in your screen like; +1300 pts.. ;)

so improving xmp=ban noobs?? nah that would mean no ppl left in xmp at all :(


personally I'd just like a decent masterserver, and mapbugs fixed, and since I don't have a clue about what netcode is supposed to be, I'll let that decision be made by teh smart people :)

Oh btw, jackal, u're rite about brownie :lol:
