What was your first weapon?

What was the first weapon you downloaded for Unreal or UT?

Also If your a coder, what was the fist weapon you made?

For me, I forget what was first, my firend brought over a flopy with the windgun, mininuke, dspcc, and a couple more weapons, Thats what got me into playing mods, I was about to uninstall unreal before that.

First weapon I made was Sprint1's RL a stinger that fires rockets, and I keep editing and editing it, I adventualy deleted it, and used what I learned on my ZF-1.

My first gun...

My first gun to download was (I think)the strangelove, which i was a litle annoyed with, so I then went and downloaded like 50 more. I havent coded any weapons, so i cant say that i made a weapon.

Pork on a stick...

I have no idea what the first weapon I downloaded was. I don't download many. The first that I made, though, was I think the mega flak. It just shot a whole lot more flak (four times as much at least) and the flak shell shot more flak than it used to and shot more flak shells everywhere. I think I then went on to make all those weapons that were gonna be in Ablosquilmawa.

Which is why I have made other unballanced weapons to actually balance the game. I have 6-7 others left so I need to kick myself in the butt and start a new weapon.

And it works let me tell you. People love them. Anyway, the SRL is my fav.

How?

How does that work? UT is a game of tactics. If you have ten super weapons it becomes a game of scramble to the nearest gun and be the first to pull the trigger. Thats not tactics, that's tacticless fragging... thats... thats... q3a...

That sounds like the way Pain is ballanced. I don't know where you get this 'tactics' and 'Q3A' stuff.

Ok. First weapon I made:

I've said this somewhere else, but here it goes again. I downloaded crack_addict's grenade launcher tutorial. I got it working. I tried changing the projectiles. I made my own projectile. I tried making a projectile which had huge push and no damage, for jumping with. Then I made a projectile with negative push. From those humble beginnings the almighty GRAVGUN was born!

One of the first I saw was the Enhanced redeemer. you could make it drop your translocator beacon where it exploded. Code from this weapon is pasted throughout the Seekers pack.



On the too-powerful debate -

Q3 is tacicless, but I think Q3's weapons are well balanced. Unlike UT where all the weapons are (gasp) different, Q3's weapons are so balanced that they are almost identical.


UT weapons are far less powerful than real world weapons, they can afford to be a lot more powerful. If you make every weapon more powerful it should stay balanced as long as the weapons have limitations.

I see your point, you can't make a gun which kills all enemies on the level or the game will be a clickmatch. But more power dosen't mean less tactics. If enforcers did 1 shot kills I expect the game would be just as tactical.

I'm actually thinking of making a weapon that gobbles up all projectiles, and anything else for that matter, with its alt projectile. Plus a flame thrower that can derout the rockets on the SRL. So there will be weapons and counter-weapons. Plus a few powerups/relics. I have big projects.

Im throwing in the towel. Not because I think you are right, but because I think that no matter what I say, there will be 5 counter arguments to it, so theres no point in me keeping it up, because everybody has only so many arguments, and when it 5 to one, I cant keep going. So I say good day, and I wont be in this thread again.

It actually comes down to personal preferences. The UT rocket launcher wasn't seeking enought for me, so I did the SRL. The flak cannon didn't shoot enough flak for me, so I did the SFC. The shock rifle, I just had an idea and it turned out as the SSR. Same for the LSR.

the stinger RL is a great mod,I'm still learning the script tho,I like unreal more than UT..I don't care for onliegames much,I'm playing threw return to nali right now,I want to upgrade the weapons befor I start unreal again it's been nealy a year since I played threw it..and with some tweaked weapons it should be fun :)
